Of course. Of course its Sunday that turns out to be the targeted due date, lol. That said, he needs to be there for the birth of his son, regardless of what day he's born. Hope it all goes smoothly with mom and baby healthy and happy.

When you're an NFL player you get paid (in Heyward's case) millions of dollars a year and the wife should understand that that is what pays for the big house she lives in and Porsche Cayenne she drives and the lifestyle she likes so much. Daddy not being there if the kid is born on game day comes with the territory. At least if I'm a player that's what I tell my wife.

If that is so... my guess is it wouldn't be long until you're looking for the next Ex-Mrs. Burgundy! LOL.
I know I would not miss the birth of my kids for anything other than a genuine emergency. Hope all goes well for the Heyward family.

Not sure what the league or team policy is on this, but lots of men who make substantially less then millions per year have to work when their wives are in labor.

Well most companies are sympathetic to that and will let you leave. Some people at my work even leave if daughters or grand daughters are giving birth. Alot can go wrong so i don't blame anyone not being there or wanting to be there. If something were to happen to his wife or the baby he would never forgive himself. If everything goes well it's still something you only get to experience a few times in a lifetime at most.

He should be there for his wife... Child birth is no small matter... while we always wish the best for such situations, we should remember that a complication can be devistating. Always be there for family during medical situations of note... if all goes well its great to celebrate, and if something should go wrong you arent ever forgiving yourself for prioritizing something over them....
Sounds like we need a good "nose tackle" in more ways than one on Sunday?...

Last year, I went to the grocery store after a Steelers game and who do I see? Cam Heyward.
I was like "How the hell is he at a grocery store 20 miles from Heinz Field not even an hour after the game ends?"
Hopefully, the same happens with the delivery.

Let's be hypothetical. It's Superbowl Sunday before game time. Die hard fans including fans that pay thousands of dollars for season tickets and maybe tens of thousands for Superbowl tickets wait in anticipation and high hopes. The fans have waited years and with aging veterans this may be the last shot at the title. All of a sudden a star players wife goes into labor, perhaps the star QB where the team has little chance without him. Should that player play? And yes, many companies provide leave for employees but some do not at substantially less pay.
I say play but keep someone in close contact at a nearby hospital so the player can make a quick exit in case of emergency.

The odds the baby comes on Sunday aren't that high. People take the term "due date" way too literally. It's more like the midpoint of a 15-day period in which the baby is highly likely to show up at some point in those 15 days.
I have two young sons and was there for both of their births, but I'm not paid millions based on applying my skills for a 3 hour window of time, on 16 days of the year. I can make up time that I miss by working a little bit more the following week, but Cam can't. He should absolutely not miss this game. Either induce labor (something my wife and I decided to do after baby #2 was more than a week late) on Saturday or roll the dice with the idea that wifey's mother would be with her if needed and Cam can always go straight from the stadium after the game to the hospital (hell, he could probably get a frickin' police escort).
