While this is super human and beyond belief, he got injured on that play, and it ruined most of his season (This was game one that year). I think it caused Tomlin's assessment of him to slide as a result.

Dear God, I miss having that guy on our team. That whole defense was off the hook.

I have a fairly positive view of this series of photos, a.k.a., a gif:

I was at that game! My cousin and I had season tickets throughout the 70's until I moved away from Pittsburgh in 1980 and cousin still kept both tickets for years. Magical years in the city during those years. They won 4 in 6 years and could have won 6 in 6 years. Those 76 and 77 teams could have won but injuries especially losing Franco and Rocky for the playoffs against the Raiders was a killer. Best teams of all times bar none!

It is a wonder he didn't break Urlacher's back on that play. I remember being pissed thinking the season was done. But you know you will watch it play through. Snow made it a nice look setting, Bettis determination made it a wow moment. Better than the McDonald stiff arm of last season, one of the best player enforcing his will moments in NFL history.

It was like you are going to stop me? I don't ******* think so.
