Seems like a lotta folks don't like him, can't wait for him to go, etc.
I don't get it. Has he been off the scale as a no. 1? No. Warren puts up some better ypc... yes he does. I think some of that can be attributed to JW coming in when he does and he's a change of pace. Whatev.

That said, Najee busts his ***, still manages 1,000 yd. seasons, does well catching out of the backfield, rarely complains, is not a clubhouse problem nor is he a problem off the field, stays healthy. I'd like to see him stay for the right price. What am I missing?

I don't see much hate, just people pointing out he hasn't really lived up to his draft position. A first round rb should be a game changer, not just a workhorse. I wouldn't mind seeing him stick around at the right price. Unfortunately, I don't believe his perceived value and the team's are all that close at the moment.

I love the guy. Very seldom fumbles. Very seldom hurt. Great character. Has played behind some of the worst NFL lines I have ever seen and still Gets 1000 yards per season.
He is damn good catching out of the backfield.
He is good at picking up blocks.

I don’t hate nor dislike Najee Harris. He appears to be a great young man, good football player and team first kind of guy.
However as I’ve said in previous posts, never ever would have used a first round pick on him.
Team would have been much better served drafting a perennial pro bowl center Creed Humphrey but the pick of Najee has Tomlin’s fingerprints all over it like so many other questionable high round picks.
You simply must concentrate on building the trenches first with top quality players. RBs can come later in the draft as we’ve seen with success with other teams namely KC with Pacheco a seventh round pick.
Something Tomlin has failed to see over multiple drafts until Omar and Andy started driving.

Agreed 100%. Harris was not the right pick. That being said, he fits what they want to do in the A. Smith offense.
I hope they resign him to a 3 year deal.

I wouldn’t be upset if they did. We know they won’t break the bank for him nor should they. But if both sides can reach a deal both aren’t opposed to I have no reason to object.

I think he's a damn good back who's been stuck with a subpar line most of his career. Last year that started to change.

This year I fully expect Najee and Warren to break 1000 yards each, if they both stay healthy. I think they'll score a lot of touchdowns as well.

I would use some of our cap money to extend him and Warren to fair deals. Anxious to see what they can do behind what will hopefully be a much improved line.
I think the fans should temper their expectations early. You have a rookie C and an inexperienced T although both obviously talented. I expect they will need some time to shine.

where is the fun in that approach .............. I want to see pancakes being served up each week by the OLINE and NaJay running wild ....... our Hybrid duo backfield .....

All 1st rounders are about a 50/50 chance to be a starter......Harris is one of 9 players to rush for 1000 plus yards in his first 3 seasons. Name these game changer 1st round Players you refer to. Few and far I am guessing. Anyways... Every year we have 32 1st rounders so it should be an easy task for you I would think. No?

Straight up, I'm not a fan. Besides taking him in the first round and only running hard when the media is on him, I get real turned off by players with poor fan interactions in the training camp and saw it far too many times from Najee.

Like what? Not signing an autograph or something?

And I'm also not sure what you mean when you say that Najee only runs hard "when the media is on him." I find that rather hard to believe.

I don’t care what anyone says, but 1000 yds in a12 game season means a hell of a lot more then a 17 game season.

The new benchmark number should be about 1425 yards rushing, not still 1000.

He's great. He has a sucky line, and had a super sucky OC. Let's see how he does with an improved line and a much improved OC.

I hope that they extend him.
He had that sucky line and OC because of the HC chose that direction. He still has the same HC who has proven to believe that is the direction to take. I expect to see similar results this year too.

I can’t speak for 448 but when I say that about a player at Latrobe it isn’t about just not signing an autograph. Lot of players have fan interaction without signing. Every once and awhile players just give off vibes with negative attitudes. You can come across those types in your casual interaction with people. You might just think that person is having a bad day. But Plax had a lot of bad days. Hampton seemed to have a tude more often than not. Heyward got on Jarvis and that send out a red flag for me. I try not to again lock into one day but over time you can see these players and get a feel for them. Like James Conner and Ryan Clark always seemed to be in good spirits and interacted well. No shocker really because some of the players are great people and some are simply tools. No different than anywhere else.

With more fans at training camp it is harder to get a feel for players and you don’t get to talk to them as much as times past. But if you go to Latrobe enough you can still get a feel for how players come across.

While it wouldn't surprise me if this were to happen, my hunch is that Shades is on notice, and the OC has a lot more leadership than MC did. I bet Tomlin dials his leadership back a good ways on the OC, and we see stuff we never would expect.

I may be wrong.

People just need to understand that the Steelers just thought the fifth year deal was a bad idea for a RB... another reason its so stupid to use a first on one... i dont think it means they are moving on from him as a starter... they just now have the flexibility to do so if they must

Don’t forget to add in the worse OC in the entire l;Ike of the NFL.
