Haskins drugged for blackmail, lawsuit claims

It's a tragedy that Haskins is dead and died the way he did. Having the money that he did, I don't understand why he didn't call someone to his aid. He did call his wife I suppose, so his phone worked. There is no way in Hell I would walk across a busy multi-lane highway no matter what. In fact, I'd get out of the car and go sit on the guardrail, or even better, get behind it and sit in the grass far away for fear the car would get struck as I sat in it dialing AAA or whoever. The fact that so many people are being sued by his wife is partly why so many things in this country are so damned expensive. I guess I just don't understand the lack of common sense these days - I'm out of gas, let's walk across a multi-lane high speed highway. I don't mean to P you off, but surely you can see as a REASONABLE person as I know you are, that this was a terrible accident. You don't go walking across multiple lanes of high speed traffic. If somebody in fact drugged him beforehand causing his actions, then I feel they deserve the maximum criminal penalty.
Understand, I didn't offer an opinion on the validity of the suit(s). All I mentioned were question the truck driver and/or his company would have to answer.
I don't have a dog in the fight, so to speak. So, it's nothing for me to sit back and observe how things play out. And that, very loosely out of respect for his family; whether they be proven right or wrong in this instance.

In s some states, (mine) if you refuse a Breath or Blood test, you suffer all the affects of a guilty person. License suspension etc..

When you possess a CDL, working or not, you are held to a higher standard. normal license is .08 but a CDL license is .06 I believe, but that may have changed recently.

It’s the nature of the vehicles that create that.

If there is a death involved, the blood test is mandatory, you don’t get a choice. I think most states dictate that.

With all that said,

Non of these lawyers will sit idly by, they will pursue / defend fully.

I‘m sitting here just letting time fly by while I ride my Mini-bike.!!!

Oh, they're gonna have to answer for sure, and I wouldn't wanna be that truck driver for several reasons including knowing (and seeing) that I killed someone. As far as the refusal for intoxication testing goes, I believe that carries a 1 year license suspension and an automatic assumption of DUI in many states. I think Florida is one of them.

The point of my posts are that I just don't understand suing everything in sight, such as the Florida Dept. of Highways. What are they supposed to do, put up a don't walk across the freeway sign every 50 feet? That question isn't toward you...I'm just thinking out loud.

"The lawsuit alleges the driver of the dump truck was speeding, driving carelessly and had a cargo load exceeding the legal weight limit. The lawsuit also alleges negligence by the individual owner of the 1994 Kenworth truck, the driver's trucking company, the Florida Department of Transportation, the rental car company and the contractor that provides signage along I-595."

Man...they suing the signage company, the road barrier company, the line painting company....

"what's the wattage of those street lamps you say?"

"ma'am, he was struck in broad daylight"

"ooohh...so now you an expert in exterior illumination huh?"
They’re suing everything. They may come after us next lol

Guy played frogger on the freeway and lost. Feel bad for his family, but he was wacked out on drugs and drunk. I don't think they have much if anything to go on here.

Hate to say it but the cash cow is dead and the leaches that remain are trying to do anything they can to not get a job. Victim mentality.

Goddammit, he was drugged with about 15 mixed drinks over three hours! He had NO IDEA that the Margaritas contained alcohol - DRUGGED, I tell 'ya.
maybe this was the same truck driver that made Lessgo Joe a single father?

you insensitive, raysiss *******. there is no personal accountability here, there or anywhere. someone is always to blame.

that someone is always either Ark or Ogre.

I just see this as a money grab from a lawyer who knew mrs Haskins had money and was grieving… it just feels like that…I don’t think it’s driven by the family… just a law firm telling tge family they can get justice for what probably is just a real tragic accident.

I mean there are commercials on the tv for law firms that more or less say call them for any commercial vehicle accident because if any tiny thing is wrong, they could be held liable…. Its pure weasel work

Right. He was down there for off-season training. I’m surprised the Steelers weren’t named in the suit.

I can’t judge anyone as I don’t know all the details. It seems fishy…..

BUT

That’s what the court system is for. I’m sure it’s a civil suit and they best have something or the defendants could recover leagal fees……

This is too familiar. I lost one of my best friends who was helping someone change a flat tire down in florida.
This may not be equivalent but it still hurts and I needed to post. Just life's challenges. It's probably been 30 years now.
Everybody stay well. Please.

Awful memory.

I never speed. I am always totally aware behind that wheel, It is so sad, I also lost another best friend the same way a few months later. It was a terrible year. Thinking now, it was like 35 years ago.

Except that was the year my son was born,

So sorry Dwayne, Not the best way to die.

Havent seen the lawsuit,, wonder if the woman in the car is implicated too?

It didn’t say anything about here. She probably doesn’t have any chance of having the money they are looking for…..
