Harrison will be back this year,, Somewhere.

If this doesn't light a fire under Jarvis Jones ***, nothing will. If I were him, I'd be ******' embarrassed that they had to bring back an old man to do my job when I was a first round pick and everyone was expecting me to be the man.

Uh why would Jones be embarrassed? He was brought in to replace an injured Jones.

I hope 92 comes back to Pittsburgh. We need that attitude he brought to the locker room. They're going to lose a lot of leadership in Polamalu/Taylor so this could help bridge that along with bridge the gap till they find a valuable pass rusher. Whether its JJ or someone else.

I think what happens with a lot of these guys is that they feel like once they get drafted and get the big money rolling in... that's it. They feel like they've accomplished what they set out to do.. the hard work is over when in fact it should be just beginning. That's the whole problem with paying someone before they've earned it... which in essence is what you're doing when these guys get that couple million in signing bonuses before they've ever played a down. By the time the season rolls around, you're already moved into the big new house, driving the sweet new car(s), banging all the hot chicks, etc. They look around and feel like they've accomplished a whole lot when in fact what they've been paid all that money to do is all still in front of them.... needing to be done.

Obviously you've never read a Jones interview or watched one.

It's not like we don't have ANY options in the stable already...

44 Jones, Howard LB 6-4 238 25 R Shepherd
Lemon, Shawn LB 6-2 250 26 Akron
Nix, Roosevelt LB 5-11 260 22 1 Kent State

One of these guys could pan out - maybe - maybe not; but, I agree, we need to get younger and Silverback is just a stop gap...

So those guys are better than Debo??? This team has ONE OLB under contract with "experience."....Jarvis "done nothing" Jones...and you'd be ok going into next season with those guys and not signing Harrison???

Talk is cheap.... I base my opinions of a player based on what I see on the field, and so far I haven't seen much of anything from Jones. Comparing what I saw from Jarvis so far to what I saw Harrison do coming off the couch, it's not even close. I'd rather see my players give good effort rather than good interviews... but that's just me.

Last season after Jones hurt his wrist he worked out every day. Unfortunately it wasn't with weights. All cardio. His injury prevented him from lifting weights. I heard that he put lots of time in all season long. Again though it wasn't with weights. So while you think he might think because he got his contract he is content... his actions speak other wise.

I sure hope you're right...

I just can't help but think that Tombert's thought process is that if we bring Deebo back it will retard Jones' development while ignoring the fact that Deebo is simply better.

So much is made of this guy's age, he's clearly in shape, still a threat as pass rusher, and makes men around him play tougher, younger players feed off his energy

^^^This^^^, and people seem to forget, he didnt play much his first 4 or 5 years so he doesnt have the same wear and tear that guys that started/played from day 1 do. his body is more like a 30 year olds than a 37 year olds.

This was the exact reason they didnt bring Debo back last season. . Until Jones got hurt anyways.

I have no reason to believe that Jones is not serious about succeeding or working out. That isn't the issue. It's performance. Right now, if he's the team's best and only option, I am scared to death for this season. We should be thanking the football gods that Silverback decided to come back last year and the FO should be in AZ to hand him a pen to sign one more year. The younger guys need to watch his work ethic and technique. They also need his leadership with the good chance of Troy, Ike and Keisel being gone in that locker room.

Debo may have lost a step and may loose another but is still better than anything they have. Hell if he lost a leg he would still be better than that lame *** jarvis jones.

He has looked old plenty of times over the past 3-4 seasons. He played in 13 games in 2012, had only 6 sacks and it wasn't until late in the season that he rounded into form.

He's not completely finished but he's definitely at that point in his career where you can guarantee he won't stay healthy if you need him for 16 games. That doesn't mean he can't turn it on here or there and have a few dominating games (he did vs. the Ravens and Chiefs this year), but you have to assume that at best if you bring him back you'll get a couple dominating performances, a few solid ones and a bunch of glimpses at injured / old James.

How is that any worse than Worilds? Worilds played all 16 games this year with only 7.5 sacks. Harrison had 5.5 sacks in 12 fewer starts.

Whether he starts or doesn't, he's going to be cheap, and he was our best pass rusher last season. You hope to bring him in and hope Jones gets his head out of his *** and starts playing and we can use Harrison in spots.

Anyone, of any age, can have injuries . . .just ask JJ and Shazier. I dont think his sack total was indication of a talent drop. Last few years LeBeau seemed to fall in love with dropping our pass rushers into coverage way too often. He did with Deebo and again with Worlids last year.

Jones will never be more than we've already seen, which is to say a weak, slow, sub-par linebacker, who is out hurt a lot. You read it here first.
I bet Tombert can't wait for his contract to be up so they can tag him.

the ****** thing of it all is, not only is Debo better than Jarvisrichardson, so is Moats....when Worilds walks, and I hope he does, they got nada at LOLB...

unless they draft a stud.

and a CB.

that's a stud, too.

and oh yeah, a Safety wouldn't hurt.

in other words...they're gonna waste two years of a franchise QB while they fix the D...if they can, considering they ****** it up to begin with.

Agree 110%. Of the four old guys, Deebo can still play, Ike and Troy can't play, and Keisel is following in Aaron Smith's footsteps of being good when he's healthy but breaking down regularly.
If Ike and Troy want to go play for DLB in Tennessee I think that's a bad idea, but well go ahead if they want. Unfortunately I don't think we play the **** this year.

Until someone can take the job from Harrison I see no reason not to bring him back. If Jones can prove in camp that he's better, great, if not, then the job should be Harrison's to lose, just my opinion. No one has stepped up and taken the job and Harrison proved he is still good enough not to hurt the team and make a few splash plays along the way, someone needs to better than that to have James move on with life's work. The Steelers are going to try and upgrade this position either in FA (immediate impact) or the draft (developmental impact) only the first would kick Harrison to the curb and then it would in all likelihood be a dog fight. IMO, the players available to the Steelers at 1.22 aren't going to be better than Harrison in year one, maybe one of the top guys, but certainly not anyone the Steelers will have available, just my opinion of the draft.

I think I've read this a million times already. Hell. What's one more time. Million and one times now.

Jones will never live up to his draft position!! You heard it here first!!!!!

Salute the nation

I bet when his rookie contract is up they will put a tag on him.........I think i am the first to type that.....maybe.
