Im not sure of his contract etc.. But he just posted on Fb he is is going to AZ to train for the coming season. Not retiring.

He only has two possible destinations. I think he is back in Pittsburgh for one more year.

good!!................he need to teach the new draft pick how to get it done

We need him and Moats back, at the least. JH has one more year in him and then he can ride off into the sunset.

So this will be his 13th season, do we sit him for all exhibition games and bring him in fresh for the season like last year? I appreciate Harrison's contribution to the team but we really need to get younger and better at this position. Personally, I can't bring myself to be fired up about this announcement....just saying.

What's your solution to the...."we really need to get younger and better at this postion?" What players are available that fit your description?

Bring him in and don't just hand Jarvis the job.

This ^^^^^ Make Jarvis earn the job. Make him own up to the legacy of his position. Make him FIGHT to get on the field. And if he fails? Well, we've learned what we need to know about him and move on. But what if he succeeds?

Not many younger guys out there that even can hold Harrison's jock....younger doesnt mean better. Harrison at 36 is probably still better than 90% of other options.

So much is made of this guy's age, he's clearly in shape, still a threat as pass rusher, and makes men around him play tougher, younger players feed off his energy

James is still the biggest bad *** in the nfl I hope he's playing here next year.

I hope the hell he is playing for the Steelers. We have nobody on this damn team who can rush from the outside better. It's a no brainer to sign him up.

Some speculation is with the Titans and Dick Lebeau, but hope he returns in a one year deal............

is manager sad he want to be a steelers but depends if the steelers want him .. sound is cecking something more than a vet minumum ..

James Harrison, "prison gaurd", is one of the best to suit up for the STEELERS. He along with the "D", has changed the game. The "rog" had to change the rules, to tame the likes of James Harrison. He dang well best be a STEELERS this coming season!!!! For some reason, I'd thought he signed a two year deal? In any event, lock him up.

Salute the nation

I believe that would be called a miracle. It would also be just fine if Jones becomes better. Then this year Jones and Harrison can play worilds can go and motes can be the best back up with a draft pick on the outside that can come in and play when James retires. So far they have been able to get younger but not better.

Tombert would be at least as likely to not re-sign Deebo because he would beat out Jones and make him look bad (like he needs help) as they would be to sign him because he would help the team. Ego is a powerful thing.

So Burgundy, are you saying that Colbert and Tomlin would deliberately keep one of "Cowher's players" off the team because he is better than anyone that they have drafted and pray to God that they can coach Jones up so that he doesn't look like another busted draft pick?"

Yes, absolutely. Absent evidence to the contrary, I have completely lost faith in Tombert's ability to draft anyone other than RB's and WR's unless they just get lucky.

when jj went down Harrison was called by us and he said he would have to get a ok from his fam and as soon his kids heard it was back to Pitt they give Daddy the thumb's up, he will be back and will finish as the Steelers all time sack leader.
now that Porter is the LB coach he is not going to as calm as he was under Lebeau and Butler he will get on JJ, he better show up to camp at 240 or 245, if Beasely was able to go from a skinny 235 hybrid DE/OLB to 247 and run a 4.56 Jarvis better bulk up his arms, his 40 time is never going to be factor at Georgia he may have gotton some sacks by running around the OT but at this level he will have to show a few different moves like bulrush, take better angles at his release to get to the QB.
I see Porter being really tough on him.

In a limited role, got no issue with Harrison being back. At his age though, I think he's gonna lose another step and maybe look like Farrior did his last year when he got burnt often. He would be a great backup option for us for one year if we could add the right pieces on defense. Much love to Deebo

Deebo on 3rd downs in obvious passing situations would be ideal.

Pure pass rusher and run support. Do not drop him into coverage. All will be well.

It's not like we don't have ANY options in the stable already...

44 Jones, Howard LB 6-4 238 25 R Shepherd
Lemon, Shawn LB 6-2 250 26 Akron
Nix, Roosevelt LB 5-11 260 22 1 Kent State

One of these guys could pan out - maybe - maybe not; but, I agree, we need to get younger and Silverback is just a stop gap...

If this doesn't light a fire under Jarvis Jones ***, nothing will. If I were him, I'd be ******' embarrassed that they had to bring back an old man to do my job when I was a first round pick and everyone was expecting me to be the man.

I think what happens with a lot of these guys is that they feel like once they get drafted and get the big money rolling in... that's it. They feel like they've accomplished what they set out to do.. the hard work is over when in fact it should be just beginning. That's the whole problem with paying someone before they've earned it... which in essence is what you're doing when these guys get that couple million in signing bonuses before they've ever played a down. By the time the season rolls around, you're already moved into the big new house, driving the sweet new car(s), banging all the hot chicks, etc. They look around and feel like they've accomplished a whole lot when in fact what they've been paid all that money to do is all still in front of them.... needing to be done.
