Harrison, Steelers agree to 2 year deal

There is no ******* way we trade into the top 10. End of story. What are we going to do: trade this years #1 and #2 plus a premium pick next year. Yup, that's how the Steelers operate...

Remember, top 10 picks are much more valuable now than they were 5 years ago...because top draft picks used to get megadeals and now they are relatively cheap.

It's as worthwhile to talk about as the dumb **** about whether we might make a play for Suh or Revis...

Hey...It's just my hunch...I gave my reasons why I thought this way...

What's your "hunch" Al?

the only way we move into the Top 10 on Draft Day is we offer Dri, and the two Jones brothers(Landry and Uncle Jarvis). Other than those carrots to dangle, we will not go up more than 2 or 3 spots. It's not a move I see the FO making. We need all our picks to fill out the D. We are in a weird spot where movement is not likely. I'd rather move down, if anywhere.

his problem is that we don't have the assets to trade up that high. What would you offer to get in the top 10 if you were the Steelers GM?

I dont think there is anyone worth moving into the top 10 for. It does not even seem like there is a consensus #1 CB out there. As for edge rushers it depends on what we are looking for. I dont see a true do it all OLB that is worth giving up what we would have to give. If we want a pass rush specialist we can find one later on. I just hope they pick someone who fills out a need in the first round. We have lots of holes so it should not be hard to find a player who fits in a need spot.

Trae Waynes would like to have a word with you (CB Michigan State).

To move into the top 10 will cost us our 2nd, 3rd and more. It is NOT worth it. If we move up, I'd only move up to where we lose a 3rd or 4th rounder. That means we only move up a few spots. Anything more will cost us our 2nd rounder. We have too many needs on D to be throwing picks away on 1 player. We absolutely need our 1 and 2 this year.

I'm very sketchy of cornerbacks right now in round 1-2

Recent history has shown the "consensus" grading on them to be not very accurate.

First list is all the players graded by Draft Scout.com as 2nd round or higher CB prospect. Second line is how they were actually drafted (all drafted 2nd round or higher)

2008: McKelvin, Mike Jenkins, Rodgers-Cromartie, Cason, Talib, Flowers, Justin King, Reggie Smith
2008: McKelvin (8), Rodgers-Cromartie (16), Talib (20), Jenkins (25), Cason (27), Flowers (35), Tracy Porter (40), T. Wheatley (63), T. Thomas (64)

2009: Malcolm Jenkins, Darius Butler, Vontae Davis, Alphonso Smith, Sean Smith, D.J. Moore, Kevin Barnes
2009: Jenkins (14), Davis (25), A. Smith (37), Butler (41), Jarius Byrd (42), Sherrod Martin (59), Sean Smith (61)

2010: Joe Haden, Kyle Wilson, Devin McCourty, Kareem Jackson, Patrick Robinson, Chris Cook, Brandon Ghee, Jerome Murphy, Dominique Franks
2010: Haden (7), K. Jackson (20), McCourty (27), K. Wilson (29), P. Robinson (32), Cook (34), J. Arenas (50)

2011: Patrick Peterson, Prince Amukamara, Jimmy Smith, Aaron Williams, Brandon Harris, Ras-I Dowling, Devon House
2011: Peterson (5), Amukamara (19), Smith (27), Dowling (33), Williams, (34), Marcus Gilchrist (50), Harris (60)

2012: Morris Claiborne, Stephon Gilmore, Dre Kirkpatrick, Janoris Jenkins, Josh Robinson, Brandon Boykin, Jamell Fleming, Trumaine Johnson
2012: Claiborne (6), Gilmore (10), Kirkpatrick (17), Jenkins (39), Casey Heyward (62)

2013: Dee Miliner, Xavier Rhodes, Desmund Trufant, D.J. Hayden, Jamar Taylor, Jonathan Banks, Dwayne Gratz
2013: Miliner (9), Hayden (12), Trufant (22), Rhodes (25), Darius Slay (36), Banks (43), David Amerson (51), Taylor (54), Robert Alford (60)

2014: Darquez Dennard, Justin Gilbert, Kyle Fuller, Jason Verrett, Bradley Roby, Lamarcus Joyner, Phillip Gaines
2014: Gilbert (8), Fuller (14), Dennard (24), Verrett (25), Roby (31), Joyner (41), Stanley Jean-Baptiste (58)

So my analysis of the above is that drafting CB early is a tricky and risky business. This position now is designed to fail and it seems the criteria that succeeds are all over the place and difficult to quantify and scout.

I just want people to understand when Draft Scout now lists the CB prospects for this year as:

2015: Trae Waynes, Kevin Johnson, Marcus Peters, P.J. Williams, Quinten Rollins, Jalen Collins, Byron Jones

It is quite likely that at least HALF of that group will underachieve.

I saw him play live a lot living near campus. He's legit.

A legit what? Corner back in college, Corner back prospect, First Rounder, 3rd rounder, it would be nice to know how good you think he is. Do you think he is going to be better than Ike in his prime or as good as Woodson. Maybe Mel Blount?

I'm not saying this to bust your chops. You say you have seen a lot of this kid play please elaborate on your opinion and why you feel the way you do.

He plays the football in the air well, which our corners haven't shown a propensity to do in recent years. He's willing to stick his nose in the pile in run support, and he ran a good 40 time. I think he's the best corner in this draft. I'm not anywhere near TMC, nor do I study like he does. It's my opinion, nothing more. The Blount/Woodson talk is ridiculous by the way, they are two of the best to ever lace them up. He will be long gone before we pick so it doesn't really make any difference.

in other words, you're saying we're going to trade up and take him #1 overall?!!?

Funny thing is, Supe, Tomlin, Lake, and Colbert have had multiple conversations with him, they were at his pro day, don't be too shocked lol

Have they ever drafted a player besides Bell that they had dinner/lunch with? I can't remember.
