A lot of guys bet on themselves and are out of a job in one or two years.
Same here. He's a high motor guy who collapses pockets but was not as stout against the run. We need a NT who gobbles up interior OL so our LBs can get to the ball carrier with more ease.

My bro is a huge Eagles fan. He was wary of this signing because Hargrave is a 3-4 NT and he’s not sure of the fit. He said that another DT was a huge need because Fletcher Cox was doubled constantly because their other DT’s, including high priced Malik Jackson have been awful. The Eagles DEs aren’t too scary either so it’s easy to double Cox.
I assured him that Hargrave is much ore than a run stuffing NT, as we all know. Hargrave knows it too and that’s why he took a short contract. He knows that if he gets let loose as a pass rusher, he can be maybe an 8 sack guy next to Cox and 8 sacks from a DT will get you paid huge.
Hargrave is not Aaron Donald out there, but he’s very good vs the run and above average as a pass rusher for DTs. He will make it much tough to double Cox and could make it easier on the DEs. He should also help keep the MLB clean to make tackles.
Harvgrave is one of the best free agent moves so far. Much better than the colts giving up the 13th overall pick for Deforest Buckner.

Hargrave graded out almost just as good as Donald vs double teams I think. With a guy like Cox next to him, he could be extremely good.
I still think he was under utilized here by Tomlin, Dupree, Cam, Hargrave, Tuitt/AluALu, Watt, one ILB, 5 DB's should've been out primary set.

I liked him better as a pass rusher than as a run stopper. My opinion is you've got those two qualities on him flipped. He did very well for himself.

He's not a true run stuffing NT. He's not Casey Hampton. The Eagles aren't looking for that. But he is good vs the run. The Steelers didn't give him a ton of pass rush opportunities. My point is that he will be a good player vs the run and pass for the Eagles, especially next to a guy like Cox.
Right now we know what he is vs the run. We are guessing at what ha can be as a pass rusher based on limited opportunities.
I felt they should have used him in the DE rotation and kept him on the field more. I get it that the like to take the NT off the field for the nickel. That made sense when the NT was Hampton or McLendon but Hargrave was a better pass rusher. I felt they should have sat one of the ILBs more often.
