For what it’s worth...he’s a clickbaiter.....but if there was no lame duck extension.....seems logical with Ozzie heading off to the pasture.

Harbaugh seems to field good D's though.

But when you constantly miss the playoffs. Upper management will get restless.

If the Ravens cut Harbaugh, the Browns will have their new coach...

won't miss his WINEY *** ways but will miss the competitiveness he brought to his team, especially against us. IRON sharpens IRON so to say.

But wait, I've seen articles stating that McCarthy's seat was getting hot too. I must be in some alternate universe because in the universe I'm from, folks on this board were constantly telling me that both Harbs and McCarthy are waaaaaaay better coaches than that stiff in shades we have.

Good possibility and would bring the question to light did Hairball make Ozzie or was it the other way around............Similar to our HC. Has Tomlin made Colbert or has it been the other way around.......???

i don't think so. The browns GM staked his reputation on Baker Mayfield. Saquon and Chubb look like superstars already. Darnold has had his ups and downs but he's shown his ability to make plays and keep cool under pressure. This GM is all in on Mayfield. The next browns coach will almost certainly be somebody billed as a QB guru or at least the OC of a high powered offense.

That's why the browns were stupid to fire Haley. They should have gave him the season to audition for the job.

Lincoln Riley of Oklahoma will be the hot name because he seen as the next Sean McVay. I'm not so sure. Riley inherited a loaded team and a really good QB. The BIg 12 doesn;t play much defense either. He might just be in the right place at the right time.

If i was the Browns, i'd be looking at Purdue coach Jeff Brohm. Or hate to say it, Randy Fichtner.

Jon Harbaugh is a solid coach. I think he's better than his brother. Ozzie gets all this credit but he sucked at drafting playmakers. What weapons has Flacco ever had?

The best playmakers they've had were Ray Rice, a few decent TEs, and a couple good seasons out of Anquan Bolden and Steve Smith. That's about it really.

Look at this year. Their rookie TE is injured. Alex Collins is mediocre at RB. Crabtree drops a bunch of balls. He's OK but not great. John Brown is a one trick pony. As usual, they have a pretty good OL and mediocre playmakers. We know Flacco is mediocre as well. He's not going to make anybody better. He can be effective only when he has protection and some go to WRs. He has no go to guys.

The talent gap between the steelers and Harbaugh's Ravens has been huge for most of his tenure and despite that the ravens are almost always a tough game.

The easy decision is to fire the coach. It's much easier than admitting that your team might need a complete rebuild. It doesn't matter who the coach is if they don't have a QB. Lamar Jackson looked awful in preseason. He's a project.

If you think Mayfield is the real deal then the browns is a great job. I could see Bruce being tempted. The browns GM has ties to the packers. Maybe he reaches out to Holmgren

Mayfield better make sure he can run for his life.... if Bruce is there he is going to be...

You mean that positively or negatively? With Flacco, you could make either case. Flacco needs a team around him, like Eli. If Flacco was on the Jags, they might be contenders.

I mean it negatively. I know Harbaugh can sometimes be frustrating for ravens fans, but if Flacco was a more consistent and effective QB, they’d have won a lot more games than they have in Harbaugh’s tenure, which is already a lot

I think Bruce Arians is a much more QB-friendly coach than Haley. Look at Haley's past relationships with his QBs, not all that great. I think BA would be the much better choice if they want an actual QB guru.

Haley fought with Warner and Whisenhunt had to make them play nice. Haley fought with Matt Cassel, and then Ben Roethlisberger and I'm sure (pure speculation) there was an issue w/ the HC in Cleveland that initiated the Baker Mayfield comments that he liked Haley. I don't know if that would've lasted for long. Haley is too abrasive and stubborn to be a good fit w/ any QB IMO. Pure speculation. I'll also speculate that Haley won't even have a job in the NFL any time this year.

I agree, Harbaugh is not the reason they come up short. If anything, he gets them to play over their heads.

I think the same of Marvin Lewis. Sure, people point out he never wins in the playoffs, but that's because of the roster, not his coaching. The bengals are so cheap, they never have a full team.

That's why the bengals draft so many guys with questionable character. They're cheap. They just see it as value, like buying dented cans in a bargain bin.

The Bengals constantly allow good players to leave as soon as they cost money. A few years ago, they had Andre Smith and Andrew Whitworth at OT and Marvin Jones and Sanu at WR. They finally had the makings of a great offense. What did they do? Did they use the draft to add the final pieces for a Super Bowl?

Nope. Instead they spent high draft picks on 2 new OTs and Tyler Boyd then they let Smith, Whitworth, Jones and Sanu leave. This set their offense back years. Only now is the bengal offense starting to get back to where it was a few years ago.

They use the draft to tread water.

People wonder why they keep Marvin Jones. I think it's because they know they wouldn't find another coach who would stay when they sell off his talent while saddling him with cheap head cases.

For better or worse, Shades is a Top Five coach. 32 HC's in the NFL but you can't name even 10 who are better. It's just that us oldsters remember when there were 28 teams with about 7 Hall of Fame coaches going against each other every week.

Chuck Noll, Tom Landry, Don Shula, Bud Grant, Paul Brown, Sid Gillman, and George Allen roaming the sidelines every week.

Very true.

Today I'd probably go McVay, Belicheat, Sean Peyton, with Cool Shades and Dan Quinn rounding out the top 5. You could make a case for Vrabel in there also since he knows how to beat the almighty Pats which is something Cool Shades can never do.

But saying he's top 5 in the current head coaching landscape is a bit short sighted since there just aren't that many good coaches in today's NFL.

Well mcvay and Vrabel are too new imo. Let’s see them continue the success for multiple years. Plus, for **** sake the rams are basically an entire top 10 draft pick team. Lol.

I would add Andy Reid to that list. He is great coach but ***** the bed all the time come playoffs

I know how to beat the Pats*. Plaster their receivers and bring pressure with 4. Offensively run the ball successfully and key throws. Hopefully Gronk doesn't play.

I like Doug Pederson and Sean Mcvay.

Re: Browns. When that rookie contract plays out,, they will be in same boat as Baltimore faced with Flacco. Mayfield is the real deal, IMO.

Trade him to Cleveland for a 1st rd pick, LOL

Ravens, John Harbaugh headed to a mutual parting of ways; in-season firing not discussed

"The odds of Harbaugh being back in Baltimore in 2019 are quite bleak, according to several sources close to the situation, with next year set to be the final year of his contract."

"He is in no threat of any imminent firing and Bisciotti isn't contemplating immediate changes. But Harbaugh will not be doing any more one-year extensions and both sides are becoming increasingly aware that a "mutual parting of the ways," is in store for 2019."

.

Haley was poison to the team, that's why he was canned. The Browns offense has looked way better in the 2 games without. Haley and Hue.
