Harbaugh Finally Beats Ohio State

Ok so now the Big 10 awards Ohio State a spot in the B10 championship and drops Indiana. Who has played more games and has a better win record. Yeah, I know OSU beat IU head to head, but it was a good contested game. Ohio State has had 3 games cancelled due to COVID, one by their own outbreak even.

I like Ohio State, heck I was named after an Twice All-American Buckeye, but this......this really disappoints me on how the B10 has handled this. Did they really need to File 13 the rules just to get OSU in playoff? Consensus said they were going to give OSU a bid in the Nat’l playoff.

SteelBuckeye, your thoughts on this?

To be eligible for post season bowl game you need six wins, right?

They had to do this for the money... if they didn’t the big ten was getting shut out of the playoffs altogether...

There are scenarios where ohio state got kept out anyhow... they need another win badly... there was a ton of talk that it would still be unfair to include them cause their schedule is too light and they are too rested.. if clemson beats notre dame and Florida beats Alabama Ohio State wont make it... they would be undefeated with 4 less games played to four teams but all of their losses were better than any of Ohio States wins...... Clemson and Notre dame would have beat each other, Florida will have beat Bama, and their only loss would be to TAM that’s only lost to Alabama...

So basically Ohio state will be asking to get in from playing a mostly crap schedule and 4 to 5 fewer games than whomever would be left out... its insanity...

Good explanation, thanks. There seems to be confusion as to who is placing the 6 game limit. I can’t find any thing from the CFA playoff website and some of the B10 writers are indicating OSU didn’t need the B10 playoff to placed as a at large. I know it’s about the money it always is, but the B10 can’t cry about it now if there is a 6 game limit. They chose to delay their season, not the NCAA.

I would have rathered the B1G start playing on time. Then there wouldn't have been all these bullshit cancelled games. tOSU is lucky they had the head to head win over Indiana to even force the issue. That said, a better solution would have been to have the Buckeyes play one of the other teams who is not impacted by COVID this weekend and whose game was cancelled. At least make it "LOOK" like you're trying to be unbiased. But, push come to shove, we all knew the B1G was going to have tOSU in the 'ship if there was any way possible.

OK, that's my take in as non-homer a manner as I can give.

My homer view? O-H-

The 6 game limit was placed by the B1G in order for a team to be eligible for the conference championship game. They've just tossed that out the window.
Also on an unbiased note, if I'm Indiana, I'm pissed.

I was not aware that the NCAA waived the six game Bowl limit this year due to covid... typically the only way a 5 win team is permitted to attend a bowl game is if there aren't enough teams with six wins to fill the schedule... Somebody i know pointed it out that it was part of the enticement to get the big ten back playing this year with less games scheduled....

So I was wrong about the ncaa part... it was just short sightedness on the big tens part not to waive it preemptively...

They were saying even if OSU lost to Michigan they would have the same record as Indiana and they own the tie breaker over Indiana. They would have been in regardless so the ruling makes sense on that level. If they had not beaten Indiana and they got in then I think the ruling would have been iffy at best. For the record I hate OSU, but in todays circumstances I think the ruling is fair.

I mean they really had to do it... the real question becomes what the committee does if notre dame, clemson, Florida and Alabama are all 1 loss teams with a better resume and 4 to 5 games more than osu... Even with the B10 cg its going to be a questionable choice... without it OSU was absolutely left out in that scenario... The Big ten schools Would be dumb to obliterate any chance of OSU getting in the playoffs for a technicality

I believe the NCAA removed the 6 game win for a bowl game rule for this year. It's pretty much any team is eligible if invited. Some teams may not even accept bowl invites so whichever bowls do plan on playing will have to take anybody they can get. That's why Penn State could actually end up 5-5 and not have a losing season.

The 6 game limit is a rule the Big 10 put in place for this year. It is absurd that they are breaking it. They should have allowed Indiana to play for the Championship. Ohio State still could have played somebody like Iowa in a crossover game. In terms of making the playoffs, i don't see the difference between a win over Iowa or a win over Northwestern.

The Big Ten could have had the best of both worlds. They could have stuck to their rules and saw Indiana vs Northwestern in the B10 Championship and likely still would have seen Ohio State go into the 4 team playoff.

Curious how most would answer this question.

Michigan cancelled the game vs Ohio State for the following reason
A. Legitimate concerns for the health of their players
B. To screw Ohio State
C. To avoid another embarrassing beatdown from Ohio State

I bet they are, but coach Allen took the high road. Good for him. Although without Penix I don’t think they would’ve had a chance.

Ohio State is a lock at this point. ND and Clemson is the swing game. If Clemson loses, they're out and A&M will be the fourth team. 1. Alabama 2. ND 3.Ohio State 4. A&M. If ND loses the game, then Ohio State slides up to #2 and ND goes to 4 and Clemson to 3. Either way, Ohio State gets CRUSHED and I'll have my popcorn ready.

OSU should NOT be a lock. They do not meet the requirements...

I think Alabama is in win or lose they are 9-0 and did not have any really close calls. Their closest game was a 15 point win. Clemson is in w/ a win and out with a loss. Lawrence didnt play in their loss to ND and they scored 40, but the D **** the bed. Will be interesting to see how that game plays out. If ND loses will be interesting to see if they fall out. FL will sneak in if they upset AL. I think the most chaos would be if FL and Clemson win. You would have AL, FL, Clemson, then a battle between OSU, ND, or A&M.

C'mon you know the answer. They had legit concerns for the health and safety of their players, which allowed them to screw tOSU and avoid the shitstomping coming their way which would have caused them to have to fire Whiny ***** #2

College football needs to be blown up and start over. Conference expansion ruined everything good about college football. Fewer rivalry games are played. Dwindling attendance at games. An arms race among the big money schools has left everyone in the dust. It's arguable Alabama and Clemson...Ohio State....Oklahoma....Notre Dame......random SEC team with a couple of good seasons..........................................................................................................................................everyone else. Zero competition in college football right now and it's not that fun.

Not a chance it happens but “power 5” has made College Football a snooze fest.

I bet Alabama players get paid more than some professionals
