Joe Haden participated in the first practice of the week as the Steelers prepare for New England on Sunday. It was Hadens first day back on the field after suffering a broken fibula on Nov. 12 in Indianapolis. Joe Haden said leg is a little sore after first practice. Will know more tomorrow after a […]

Well that's not promising. I'll cross my fingers, but we will need him for the playoffs. Being 100% healed with that bone is important.

I'd be stunned if he came back the week after he started practicing after that injury.

Rub a little dirt on it and get him back out there.

Doubt he plays it wasnt even a regular practice and he is sore. In the grand scheme of things this game is not super important. I would rest him. Maybe give him one tune up game before the playoffs and have him ready to go when it really counts

Have two more days to evaluate. He might feel ready by game day...

This game isn't that important in the grand scheme of things. The next time we play them is when it counts.

set hmmm for a few more weeks. let him try it a bit for the Browns game and then he will have 2 weeks to rest afterwords

Lots of armchair doctors chiming in. He said his leg was a little sore which is to be expected on hIs first day back. Let's wait and see how he progresses towards the end of the week.

Joe Haden returns to practice

Haden, who's missed the last four weeks with from a fractured left fibula, said he plans to line up with the first-string defense again on Thursday, though he noted he doesn't have to rush back onto the field.

"That's the pleasure about this situation. We're in the playoffs. We have stuff to look forward to so I don't want to go out there half-[expletive] it, be out there hurting the team, hurting myself, knowing that we have games coming, knowing that I'm on my way back," Haden said.

After 7 seasons I bet it really felt good to finally get to say those words.

That's good to hear he doesn't want to Mike Mitchell it out there and come back too soon only to hurt himself and be useless for the team...

He's a week away. He just started running Monday, I doubt he will be cleared this week.

How bad was the fracture? What's the bone density scan look like? What kind of soreness is it? Muscle soreness? Being functional doesn't mean you can take impact yet. Just common sense stuff. No medical degree needed...;) Our offense will win this game and our ability to get to the qb.

I trust the doctors will make the right recommendation either way.

I would argue this game is pretty important in the grand scheme of things.
It will basically decide whether we play at Heinz or Gillette for the AFC Championship game (if we get to that point).

Not saying Haden should play if he is hurt. However, if it's a pain tolerance issue ONLY, then shoot it up and move on.

That’s easy for you to say. You don’t have to live with the effects for the rest of your life.
