Haden on Tomlin

When Cleveland is all you know....

it is like locking you in a room and not feeding you for a week.

Then throwing you a Saltine cracker.

That would be the best damn cracker you ever ate....

yumyumyumyum

As I said. "Joe would say ANYTHING to avoid going back to the Browns."

Tomless is (in Joe's opinion) better than Cleveland's coaches.

Whew! ****! Start planning the parade!

I think everyone would share Joe’s opinion on that

How can anyone not at least question Tomlin?
1. the entire Harrison thing? He comes in and gets the big sack at KC, then we don't see him anymore, while Dupree, Moats, Chick suck out loud, but they supposedly can cover.
2. the players/coaches being late to various walk throughs/ meetings, obviously no discipline.
3. the new comes out that he's taken over the defense and meetings, ever wonder why garbage QB's torch us so bad, he plays that **** zone defense.

I don't think Tomlin is the best coach in football, by any stretch, but I also don't see him near the bottom like most here. He's top 10, might be top 5, depending, I'd put the following guys above him-

Hoodie, of course, I hate that prick, but he gets it done
Maybe Zimmer? Not sure though, but he did a pretty good job with the Vikes this year.
Pederson looks like he's got it in Philly, but again, who knows, his tenure is still early
And I actually think Dick Lebeau would have made a pretty damn good head coach for the right team, but we won't ever know.

On the same level as-
I'd say BA was about as successful as Mike as a head coach, he was certainly a better HC than he was an OC, but he's out of the game now, so not really a factor.
Rex Ryan was a damn good coach, but kept landing with **** talent at qb, regardless of what he said in public about the Sanchize, that guy sucked, and he had to know it.
Chucky maybe? We will see soon enough if he's the real deal, or just won with Dungy's players

Worse than? Ugh, the list of **** head coaches is insane.

Bottom line is he's not as good as he thinks he is, and I don't think he's as bad as the board thinks he is :)

Joe

“20 other teams would love to have him as their head coach,” Haden said.

We aren't an organization who celebrates AFC North hats. Win in the playoffs or GTFO

If there are 20 other teams that would love to have him, then there are 11 other teams who wouldn't. That makes Tomlin no better than 12th, right?

According to Haden, that's correct. Like I said, we aren't an organization of mediocrity, we want top 3, not top 12.

Tomlin has had some great talent, and a bit of that talent is due to his work w/Kolbert as well. I'll give him credit for that. What I also give him credit for is not being able to get this team where it should be, as in they've got enough talent to be this years AFC rep in the Bowl. His stamp is fully on this team, and that includes the garbage that comes out of the locker room. This team plays high level at times when emotion runs high, and when there's not a lot to play for, there is NO emotion. How do you not get your team up for a playoff game? Why do you need to? It's where his leadership has put this team, but lets not act like dude has been coaching w/o a limited amount of talent. This team is loaded... and once again no where close to THE game.

Joe, Joe, Joe....repeat after me..

Thou shalt not give credence to anything positive a player has to say about our coaches.

Write it on the board 100 times.

Top 5?

I don't know how you can possibly justify that. 4 teams went to Championship games with shittier players.

I don't know HOW many teams aren't gift-wrapped the Browns and Bengals every year. And honestly, a few years ago they started a reboot of M.A.S.H. in Baltimore with the Ravens. They NEED a mobile surgical unit to deal with all their injuries each season.

Top 5. Dear Lord. He's a joke. And a bad one at that.
Obviously.

I know a kid that ended up crashing at LT Walton's house. He's in a touring rock band...and basically Walton told him that all the players love Tomlin. For what it's worth that's coming from a casual conversation and not anything in the media. Personally I'm pretty disappointed at the whole Harrison situation but I think Tomlin deserves another crack at it.

Agree about all the friggin social media garbage....I hate it.

My biggest issue with Tomlin is accountability.

If he is de facto running the defense, then come out and own it. Why sit back and pretend Butler is in charge and that it's Butler's defense? Tomlin should say it's his defensive scheme that he's constantly tweaking and adjusting. If that D fails - as it did against the Ravens & Jags, among others - then own up to it. If he's having discipline issues with players, call them out on it. Fine or suspend players if need be. Basically, I want less bs and more transparency and accountability from him. Step forward and call a spade a spade. I'll continue to support Tomlin but want to see some real changes in his approach.

Regardless, Tomlin is 1,000 times the coach he's perceived to be on this board. But who cares? It is what it is. The team failed miserably to reach their goals and fans have a right to ***** and moan about it. And that starts at the top with the head coach. I see the glass half-full with Tomlin and think he has plenty of redeemable qualities for the job. The seat is getting warmer and he needs to adjust his approach accordingly.

On a side note - the more time passes with this season in the rearview mirror, the more I keep thinking how different things would have been with Ryan Shazier on the field. Not that it matters.

This was our year. For the first time in ages we had a healthy team going into the playoffs and they managed to score 42 points and still lose a round earlier than last year. Mikey Regular Season needs a fire lit under his *** and I propose 1) no more contract extensions until he wins a Super Bowl and 2) a $5 million bonus if he beats Belicheat and Br*dy.

Of course the players love Tomlin...just like kids love their parent who doesn't discipline them and tries overly hard to be their buddy.

After the close, heartbreaking loss to the Patriots (without Haden), I really thought it was going to be the Steelers' year too. I actually believed they were going to beat New England this time, on their way to another Super Bowl win.

Then they lost to another touchdown underdog at home, and never got the opportunity.

Like the way he "coddled" Bryant for being immature and divisive.

Some of you guys only see what you want to see. Tomlin is a leader of men.

That leader of men needs to stop giving cheats players mid season, and ease up on the D. And let Butler run it.

That is the way I wish he would lead.

I don't want to turn this into a Cowher Tomlin thing, but Cowher made it to 4 AFCCG (3 as the #1 seed) with trash at QB, without one of the best wr's in league history, twice without a legit top notch RB. He did that in his first 10 seasons.
Tomlin has had a Franchise QB his entire time here, and has had AB 7 seasons and he's made it to only 3 AFCCG's in 11 seasons.
