Raiders are giving new head coach Jon Gruden a 10-year contract, the longest coaching deal in NFL history, sources tell ESPN. The deal is likely to be worth about $100 million. -Adam Schefter

Holy cow. This is a game changer. Owners can not be pleased.

A 10 year deal for a coach who has been out the game, and 100 million on him?

Gruden owned the Raiders...he's the King of Las Vegas, no way can they fire him unless they eat that contract.

What a joke. I see he has his old mans brain for things and not just his looks. If you were going to drop that kind a coin to basically force the guy to coach, Id go for someone more accomplished then Chucky. Cowher or several years ago Jimmy Johnson.

I think Cowher might start talking is someone offered him 10 million a season. I am floored by this contract offer.

You're right the Raiders are a joke.

Raiders gotta do something to generate positive vibes considering how they've effectively **** on their fanbase in LA and Oakland.

but, this?!

That team will be sub par for the next 10 years, as if they haven't been for the last 10 years. Whats changed???????

The budget for development of the Las Vegas Football stadium is estimated at $1.9 billion. Of this, an estimated $375 million is to be spent on land and infrastructure costs, $1.35 billion on construction, and $100 million on a Raiders practice facility, with the remaining $100 million as a contingency allowance for unexpected costs.

So you see the 100 million spent on Gruden was chump change for this Franchise.

I could see the wealthy fans flying in to see games for the weekend. Not Raiders fans from Oakland mind you, but the visiting fans.

Don't remember Gruden being a coach worth this much coin. We will find out soon enough what this means for the Raiders.

He built a pretty good Raiders team that went to the SB the year after he left. Took over TB to beat the team he left.

I think Gruden is a good head coach. Excellent for an offense. One of the best minds in the game.

Veteran QB Rich Gannon once said he felt he knew a lot about offensive football until he meet John Gruden.

David Carr better to be able to grasp his offense and in your face style of coaching.

I get it coach but the team has to have some relevancy or you end up a buffalo or a jaguar or a bottom cleveland. If that would actually be the case then
you would be right as to the visiting team being the home team. Still chump change of 100million is big money on a coache's salary, like it or not. $10M
a year on chuckey.......................makes perfect sense to me. HHhahahhaaaaaaa

Thing is, I can fly to Vegas for literally a $100 weekend from where I live. That stadium will ALWAYS be packed. With opposing team's fans, sure. But they won't have attendance problems.

Like Jim Morrison said on Wayne's world 2.

"If you build it, they will come"

Other than that, I fail to see why they paid so much
