If they wouldn't look at GW because of Bounty Gate, I'd look at Marvin Lewis. He may welcome a reduced role, stay coaching and get back to SWPA. I liked his work with BAL before he went to the Black Hole.
Tomlin left it along when LeBeau was here, don't understand why he couldn't do it again.
On another note, has anybody ever read Bryan Deardo? I've heard numerous complaints about this kid plagiarizing and just plain making **** up, and now he has an article up on 24/7 Sports Steelers may consider hiring Kevin Greene as new OLB coach
He then goes on to say "He should now be considered to join Pittsburgh's staff as the team's new linebacker coach. Considering Greene for Joey Porter's old job should be a no-brainer." And nowhere in the article is there even a mention from a source, beat writer or anything that the Steelers are even considering Kevin Greene. What bullshit.
Only the dumb *** Browns would fire the interim coach that led them from 0-16 to an almost .500 season...

I'd like to throw my hat in the ring to coach the defense

That's a very good point sirI don't get the fascination with Williams. We're worried about how Tomlin controls a locker room and then you want to bring in a guy who let guys like Chad Johnson and Vontaze Burfict run the show? Hard pass on Lewis.
Tomlin sais he declined hiring a times out coach. While a dog catcher is better than Butler for DC, Tomlin himself had too much control over the defense.
If its impossible to fire Tomlin, okay let's have two coordinators running the show, with him out of it. Things will be much better.
I'd take Greene as the OLB coach.
I'd pass on Greg Williams for several reasons. He was the coach in the bounty gate. The NFL found that Williams and as many as 27 Saints defensive players were involved in the scheme. He's also 60, and when was the last time his defense was high rated?
BountyGate was a big nothingburger.
It wasn’t like he was being John Kreese and telling players to do something illegal, or even intentionally hurt another player. He was promoting being aggressive, being physical, and being ruthless. Sorry, but that’s the football I grew up with. That was the AFC Central in the 80s. What a great time for football. This ridiculous PC don’t breathe on players flag football today is plain sissy. They overreacted to Williams paying players who got a good hit on an opposing player. Good hits like the ones they used to highlight on ESPN with the segment JACKED UP before society and the NFL started using vagicil and said “we’re done being collision sport.” Gregg Williams and people like him are islands of realities in the ocean of diarrhea that is the NFL. And as much as it pains me to say, that includes Ray Murderer Fur Coat Lewis who has an amazing rant for once in his life about the state of the game and hitting.
MUNCHAK / WILLIAMS 2020!

I thought signs of the infamous Tampa 2 was rearing its ugly head in the last couple of seasons of Lebeau.
Bingo, glad someone else noticed it. We didn't draft a DE high in the draft since like 88, then over a 4 year stretch we took 2DE's with our#1 picks and another with a 2nd round pick. That's cause they immediately started drafting players that better fit the speedy, zone-lovin' Tampa 2.

Another one who nailed itWe already have a DC his name is Mike Tomlin and their in lies the problem. He wont get a high profile guy because that person will want to do his thing. Mike is good with Butler because he is affable and does what he is told.

Nice, steelernation taking over the coaching ranksI'd do the replay analysis, for transportation to the game and a hotel for a couple nights. I might be hung over, but i couldn't be worse than waiting on the jumbotron replay.
I like him because he does things his own way. Tomlin will have to let go of the reigns on D, and immediately, through scheming and personnel, we will be a better D with the players we already have. Just like Fichtner did on offense. These are they guys you want delegating the O and D. I fire Butler now and replace him with GW. This isn't college, go and get the best damn guy for the job!
Hahaha yeah, what the ***** the point of paying him 5 million a year? It's sad when you have to get the HC away from every aspect of the game so that the team can win.
