Yep, this shines some light on the 6th round long snapper pick. If it was just camp competition I doubt they draft anyone or at the very least only use a 7th round pick. I guess they must have been going into the draft knowing Warren was done and didn't want to risk not getting the guy they deemed the next decade long long snapper by waiting until round 7. Makes me a little less pissed at the pick lol

Smart that they didn't release Warren until after the draft. That way we didn't tip our hand and got the top snapper in the draft. It makes a little more sense now why they spent a draft pick on a LS since they knew Warren was gone. I had a feeling, and now it is official.

I don't care, a late pick still needs some competition in camp just in case he can't adapt to the game or whatever else could go wrong.

Hell yeah, we could have snagged the second best LS available in round seven, and traded him later for Fu and a six.

I for one am glad we upgraded NOW instead of when Greg had issues and it became an emergency effort to replace him.

We already had another long snapper on a futures contract before the draft so there will be competition

Not buying it. They knew about this or, at least, the real possibility of this before the draft. The LS pick now makes total sense.

I didn't mind the draft pick since I knew Warren was getting near the end anyway, but yeah it makes sense now.
