The rookie wage scale is what it is, but a $900K signing bonus is still a nice guaranteed chunk of change for an offensive lineman taken late in the third round.
True but lets say it is a couple hundred thousand above market. Through the OTA's and mini camp it might have become apparent that this was your week one starter at center. You might as well get the business arrangement off to a good start. There is a difference between a 3rd rounder who starts in year three and one that starts year one maybe week one.
