Alex Kozora did an excellent breakdown of UG3, and if you don't remember why the Steelers were high on him in the preseason, this will be a nice refresher of his playmaking and speed.

Good video. Gilbert sure as hell keeps his eyes on the receiver or the runner, and makes very good decisions on how to get there right now. That interception was a thing of beauty.

A guy like that making a jump in his second year would go a long way. Mondeaux is a forgotten guy to that could make a second year jump.

I feel the same way about Derwin Gray. Guy played all 5 positions last training camp. Another Maryland guy!
Nobody thought much about Foster but his determination prevailed.

My hope is they will field the best 5 Olineman they have. for example, Okorafor is in the third year and was a third round pick. He should be stepping to the plate and possibly allowing Feiler to Kick inside. Basically wherever they put Feiler allows for depth. If they put him outside they have depth outside (Okorafor). If they put him inside they have depth there (Weisnewski).

You're right SteelerSask but I think Weisnewski start initially while Dotson gets his feet wet.

You guys have a lot of faith in Dotson. I still think Chuks at Tackle slide Feiler inside. I don't think a Rookie is beating out Wisneiwski. But Okorafor is in his third year. He could be ready easily and Feiler has some position flexibility.

I'm hoping Chuks beats out AL. Foster was bad last year, but folks are forgetting Al was right there with him. How much of that was Foster and how much of it was Al actually slipping? I saw Al get beat one on one more than a few times. If Chuks can handle LT in year 3, you keep Feiler at RT and Wiz slides into Foster's old spot and is able to help Chuks with his growing pains. Banner remains the swing tackle and Feiler is also insurance at LG in case of injury, etc.
I know this means changing personnel at two positions, but, they were (possibly) going to be doing that anyway.

Is Mondeaux still on the team? I thought they got rid of him last season (I liked him too).

Don't think that is happening this year Al being unseated. Whichever one shows better between Chukes and SW will get the start at RT or G. Later on in the season Big Dot could make a play to start. Not sure any rookie is cracking the starting lineup out of the gates. With Big Ben coming back off injury I don't think they will be doing a lot of experimenting.

You're probably right SteelerSask but one can hope. Bottom line is I want the BEST 5 on the OL and not coaches pet or assumed progress.

not saying al was great but the defender is at a huge advantage when they don't respect the qb arm. they loaded boxes creating more rushers than blockers and defenders just teed off. I know this is repetitive but this is what happens with poot qb play.

All of that is true. However, there were times last season where Al was beat one on one. Basically as soon as the ball was snapped. He did nothing to slow down the defender. He has always had a hard time with speed rushes. It was worse last year. That said, when it came to power rushes, his blocking wasn't helped by Rudolph's tendency to drift into pressure rather than step up in the pocket.

Al gave up two sacks. Definitely not horrible.

Do they have a stat for hurries allowed? I (think) I remember him getting beat more often. But, it's entirely possible that I am remembering wrong.
