So readying this it looks like Golson might make it back to the last preseason game. Question. Do you cut him, pup him, or see if we can PS him. I think he is still eligible for the PS.

Personally, I PUP him. Hamstrings can take a long time to get 100%. We can bring him back later and see how he looks in practice. If he gets hurt when he starts to practice we can IR him or if Allen/Hilton are looking awesome just IR him anyways.

Tough call. At this point you really have no idea what he is capable of if anything at all. In year 3, he's still a blank slate as far as what he can offer. Hell, at this point he might be considered an aging vet by the time he ever gets on a football field. I can't think of much more depressing career of a Steeler as far as never getting a chance because of injury, except for Gabe Rivera. That was worse for sure.

money wise you don't lose anything by keeping him, I agree with Ford

Talk about snake bit. Did he have a history of injuries in college? That's a tough question; you hate to get rid of him without ever seeing what he's got, but how long can you wait? It's almost PUP or nothing at this point.

Senquez Golsen. A cautionary tale for young Steeler fans everywhere.

"Why do I have to study math Mama?"

"Senquez Golsen."

"Oh ****!"

"Why do I have to go to college Dad?"

"Senquez Golsen."

"I'll get right on those applications sir."

Golson is the ultimate tease. Feel bad for the kid, still hasn't played a single game two years in. At some point, and it may be in a short few weeks, the Steelers may decide he's not worth the hassle. Snake-bitten is right.

Nah, Staley actually had some good seasons in Philly and did pretty well here before the recurring injury bug started to get him. I know he is a running joke on here but he was a good player before that.

Hard on the player getting injured every year but sooner or later, you have spent a bunch od time on a player that cannot play, move on new body.

You can't put Golson on the PUP. He was healthy at the start of camp. You have to have failed your physical to be put on PUP list before camp.

He is PS eligible for what it's worth.

I believe I read earlier today that they can't PUP him as he was able to practice and then got injured.

Two options.
1. Stash him on the PS. No one will grab him for there 53. No game film. If he looks good in season practice you can promote.
2. Pretend the Hilton kid was the draft pick and Golson was the UFA. Cut bait and move on.
I prefer option 2.

Definitely PUP him and let him heal if he isn't ready. If he can get some practices in healthy, then maybe he's worth a roster spot at some point. He just hasn't been able to stay healthy. Really ****** deal for him

Golson can't be placed on PUP. He passed his physical at the beginning of training camp. The only option is Injured Reserve.

He's also practice squad eligible.

Why not put him on the IR. DB is our weakest position. Evaluate him later in sept.. Bring him back , cut him or trade him later..

It's a fun thought but if between now and then we lose someone more important we can't bring Golson back.

I think this season they approved having two players on the designated to return list.

I'm good with that. If they can squeeze him onto that designated to return gig, it would help everybody.

He is still a second round pick that had coaches all exited coming out of college. I get the frustration but these injuries, as far as I know, are not a result of anything he did wrong . If he has talent we need, I'd hate to just give it away to another team just.because of some bad luck.

And no, I got no clue how long we wait before we part ways. I just think now is not the time.
