Golden signed

The Steelers have reached agreement with safety Robert Golden on a 3yr/$5M deal

If this is accurate, the Steelers got him for dirt cheap. A star special teams man who can step in and play safety. I like this deal.

If you mean getting burnt like toast then ok. If you mean being part of the secondary ranked 30th out of 32 is holding his own then ok. I like him a teams guy, nothing more.

That's why I said while the rookie (round 1 or 2) develops, still don't remember golden getting toasted like you infer.

The whole secondary was toast. It needs a.complete overhaul. Your correct, we need to draft youth and speed for the secondary as we have the offense in years past.

Golden was fine in coverage.. he is a safety/CB... he should have been starting over Allen, IMO

Allen was the better Blitzen, Golden better in coverage and improved through the season with additional snaps

No way we go after Weddle now. Most likely we draft a young safety to go behind Golden

I like Golden. Good signing. Just seems he's more of a special teamer

1 million or so above the absolute dirt minimum for a salary slot for a guy that can kinda play and will go hard on special teams is really worth it.

two signed potential free agents... hopefully more tomorrow...

30 out of 32 speaks for itself.

It doesn't, necessarily, say anything about the individuals. It might. If three or four of the 5 DB's are below average - average and the other is Darrell Revis, you might still end up 30th in the league because everyone is going to toast the others game in and game out.

Also the snap count has to be considered. Will Allen was the starting safety while golden got minutes in the last quarter of the season.

you are correct. Since I didn't watch the games, I couldn't comment on specifics.

I think it's a good signing. The player and price, thumbs up!!!!!

Salute the nation

Glad to have Golden coming back. I think he's a solid extra DB to have on the field and special teams player, but they still need to find a starter, whether it is FA or one of the top rookies in the draft.
