Go on record your like for round 1 and 2 & an alternative .

I hope we trade back collect some more pics…and then select the true nose tackle Hunter with our first pick, either late first run or early second round..

I think we could risk not missing out on him based on what I’m reading as far as draft projections..

However, this kid is the best player at his position in the draft which is nose tackle.

Let’s get the best player at his position in college football and also finally get a true nose tackle to work the middle of our defensive line in our 34 alignment.

We already have 12 picks, how many do you think we need?
 
I’d be more for converting some of the 12 draft picks into the ‘27 draft.

Not sure which is a better option at WR, Boston or Conception………….. leaning towards Boston.

I also know we need a LT more than a guard (Spencer Anderson can hold that guard down, no sweat)

The more the better I believe…
The main reason I said this, is I believe we could still select our player we need by trading back slightly and pick up another selection for this year‘s draft, which could potentially allow us to bundle pics to move up further in the second or early third.
They can also use the extra pick next year if they wish..

I’m a firm believer that the NFL draft is all about percentages when it comes to selecting players that can contribute this year and down the road… the more pics equates to more contributors..

12 rookies would be 23% of the roster. Looking at the roster below, there are probably 44 "locks" or close to locks on the roster already. At most there are 9 spots left. I suppose you can cut some rookies, but I think they make the moves to get the guys they want and not just stack picks.

I'm starting to like Caleb Lomu as a 1st round pick dark horse. Ideally we trade down 4-5 spots and get the best available OT

I think we trade half our pics to Buffalo and get Ed Oliver and then trade the other half to new England for Marcus Jones.
The only thing they need to do next is sign Demarcus Ayers out of retirement and trade for name that tune Clayton and we are back baby!

Rudy and Wilson could get shuffled out and that would expand to 11. I agree if they give them another season then yeah 9. If you trade up in 1 and 2 that could take you down to 10 picks. Trade one away for next years draft and then 9 is the sweet spot.

Tells me if they want they can get increased value while still getting a round pick higher for next season. It is doable provided there is buyers of course.

That is the right combination, especially the “next year’s pick” collection. We need to focus somewhat on acquiring picks for next year’s draft.

We ended up with a lot of picks for this draft by using the thinking of this is a quality QB class. That assumption has now moved onto next year’s draft. I still think we need to use a pick (any of the 3-3rd rnd picks) for a QB. Then try to trade a third for next year 2nd round pick.

I know this trade business is all contigent on getting a trade partner, it’s not like Madden Football.

Highsmith could be a player we trade for a 2nd & a 4th for next season. I highly doubt we could get a 1st for him but you never know……………

Now if we wait till after trade deadline, we could use that former poster with the onloy luxury car parked in the bar parking lot, to actually work the trade for us.

Shuffling Wilson out serves no purpose at all, he's dirt cheap (1.5m cap hit for '26), and he's at one of our weakest positions. Even if they draft two WR, moving on from now doesn't make any sense.

Those two could definitely go, I just don't see a pathway to dedicate 25% of the roster to rookies. Given the predicted talent and depth of next year's draft, I don't anticipate many teams looking to move future picks for 2026 selections.

I don't know exactly what the Steelers are building, but considering they're trying to construct a roster to sneak into the playoffs and get blown out in the first round yet again, I don't see Highsmith or any other veterans on the trade block. Those types of moves are counter to their team goals.
