Go on record your like for round 1 and 2 & an alternative .

I would love to have Vega Ioane (G, PSU) but LT is emerging as the #1 need with the extent of Jones' neck injury. So now I'm thinking we get Proctor or Iheanachor at 21.

1. Proctor, OT, Bama; Miller, OT, Clemson; Iheanachor, OT, Zona St
2. Gennings Dunker, OT, Iowa. He's slotted to move to OG.
any combo of the above 1st pick with Dunker gives us a HUGE OL with a lot of youth.

Alt
1. Proctor, OT, Bama; Miller, OT, Clemson; Iheanachor, OT, Zona St (one of those guys should be there at 21)
2. Anthony Hill, LB, Texas

1. Denzel Boston WR. I like him at 21. He can be a big bodied slot. I would love to be able to get Tyson but he will be gone Boston is a prototypical Mike McCarthy style receiver.
2. Rutledge OL Georgia Tech. He reminds me a lot of Decastro

Alternatives

1. Jordan Tyson WR
2. Derrick Moore-Edge Michigan

Some might not see it as a top need with Day in the fold but I like me some McDonald.
Day is a veteran rotational player..
He is not the important position of need consistent game changer..

Both Hunter and McDonald will bring the run stopping penetration and occasional pass pressure that is needed in the middle of our DLine for several years and possibly more..

We have been getting our ***** handed to us in the run game for several seasons now, and we need to have that stop to be considered a great defense.

IMHO.

1. McNeil-Warren-Safety
2. Rutledge-Guard

Alternative
1. Thieneman S
2. Rodriguez LB

Didn’t try to “Price is Right” you Slash, but the alternative is the draft I prefer, the first names are what I think is more likely.

I applaud the investigation you guys put in to this. I count on your know how and comments. I look forward to the draft.

You might be right. I know in general I am all for stacking run defense options. I hope somewhere in 1-4 that takes place.

Great question, Slash. My response:

First Choice
21. Spencer Fano OT Utah
53. Emmanuel McNeil-Warren S Toledo

Backup Plan
21. Blake Miller OT Clemson
53. Keylon Rutledge OG Georgia Tech

I did not select Jacob Rodriguez, ILB because I don't think he makes it to 53. This group has two very good ILBers, Sonny Styles and Rodriguez. That's it. If Rodriguez is there at 53, definitely take him.

Fano is a good RT, very athletic. Not the physical specimen you would want this early (wingspan not great) but this draft has a ton of guys who would be good 3rd round picks in years past who have moved up to 1st round options due to the paucity of genuinely great prospects. The guys I really want the Steelers to get - Tate, Downs, Thieneman, Freeling - don't have much chance of falling to 21.

The backup plan gets a potential LT with very good physical traits and an OG who is superb. The mock simulator I use has Rutledge falling to 53 about half the time so heck yeah.

If Fano is there that's a no brainer but highly doubt it
Ideally
1 Fano OT
2 Concepcion/Cooper WR

Realistically
1 Tyson WR (if healthy)
2 Rutledge OG

First Choice

21 Caleb Lomu, LT;
53 Chase Bisontis, LG.

Alternate

21 Olaivavega Ioane, LG;
53 Germie Bernard, WR

Initially had Ioane as my first choice for 21, but then thought more second round options likely to be available at LG than WR, Safety or LT (the positions I think are biggest need apart from QB), so went for second round guard matched with first round LT as my first choice.

I will probably change my mind daily between now and the draft. I'm having a hard time locking in on anyone.

1. Jordyn Tyson - if medicals check out I think he has the highest upside of the top receivers.
2. Keionte Scott - I think he can be an x-factor as a NCB

Alternatives...

1. Blake Miller - the closer it gets the the draft, the more uneasy I feel about Jones' long-term health and Miller is one of the top tackles in the draft.
2. Lee Hunter/Keylan Rutledge - yeah, I cheated here, it would just depend on who's available and love the fit with either of these guys on this team

I do not know college guys like yall do.

I would say best Oline and best dline 1st 2 picks. Do not care which 1or 2nd. Just get the best available.

Pat Queen led the league in missed tackles last year. Surpassing Devin Bush in that category. The Cowboys offered a third round pick for Queen. Why did they pass up that deal? MLB's that lead the league in missed tackles aren't worth a third round pick. Omar screwed up.
