Get Ready

Well amazingly Stephen A Smith is saying that Tomlin and the Steelers should part ways. Everyone else is pretty much "fans should be careful what they wish for!"

Barrack Tomlin will be forever protected by the media, and you don't have to be a genius to understand why
Why the need to barrack Tomlin? Has he enlisted?

Same thing on ESPN. He doesn’t build the roster, he doesn’t have a QB, he gets the most out of a terrible roster every year, blah, blah. Do these people watch any Steelers games? Especially the playoffs?
Its funny these people never bring up having the highest paid defense for the last 5 seasons when complaining about the roster.

Pro Football Talk on Sirius XM today:

Simms: Tomlin won 9/10 games with 6-win rosters. No mention of how they were built or by whom.

Florio: Lack of coaching tree is on Rooney, who is quietly a control freak (trust me!) and hands Tomlin his staff.

Utter crap.

Hahaha that is the most ridiculous thing ever. So all these coordinators that Rooney hires just happen to come here and their offenses all look identical? If Rooney were the control freak Florio says, then these coordinators would be allowed to run their systems.

Or the lack of draft picks that have developed into Pro Bowlers.
Or paying guys like Minkah and Muth then not using them. He put Minkah in centerfield after making him the highest paid safety, then gave Muth 14 million or whatever it was then barely used him

Now wait a minute, wasn’t the argument from many that he should have won more with all the talent he had? You can’t have it both ways at the same time.
Sure you can the man was here a long time. He could be deficient in talent evaluations some seasons and other seasons he had good talent but failed to do more with it. Plus he could in theory be deficient in talent evaluation and or development but still had enough talent to win a playoff game in a particular season.

Sure both could have existed.

In my discussion with a fellow Steelers fan (totally Tomlin & only fair weather fan), I bring up this exact same topic…………………………. CRICKETS

Add in that many of the coordinators were personal friends of the Tomlin………… thanks Art for taking that into consideration !

How in the world do they call out other coaches and say it’s time for a change for every other coach with this type of resume but not Tomlin?
What? ...19 straight Tomlinship's.....never been done before. Any team will welcome Tomlin. He is one of the bestest out there. He just ran his course here.

Of course WE can have it both ways……………… Roman Wilson is a great example of non-developement.

TJ Watt is a great example of high talent that doesn’t win in the playoffs.

Both on the same team coached by the Tomlin.

ESPN: Tomlin doesn't have a coaching tree because of the loyalty the Steelers show to staff, so they never really had any other opportunities.

I was like "What?" Tell me, where is Randy Fichtner these days? Canada? Keith Butler? Come on. There is no coaching tree because being a Steelers assistant is pretty much a death sentence to your career. You will run some version of Mike's offensive and defensive philosophy, no matter how horribly outdated. Coaches and GM's see the product. It isn't pretty.

The defense was LOADED with talent this year, and it flopped totally. The offense is lacking in talent to run a modern system, but I think that's the way he wanted it. If at any point in time Mike was pounding the table for a 2nd legit WR in the past two years, he would have had one.

Free at last! Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty, we are free at last!

In honor of Dr. King and his upcoming day of remembrance...

My friends, I have a dream! A dream that one day, the black and gold will rise again from the shadow of losing to the Browns and playing down to competition.

I have a dream that one day, we will throw across the middle of the field, fearlessly, where seem routes open like the heavens. I dream of tight ends not left to rust, of crossing routes that find daylight, of slant passes that break coverages and hearts alike.

I have a dream that one day, our defensive line will be more than two souls battling in vain against five in short yardage situations. That the trenches will once again resemble a curtain of steel and our foes will know the pains of battle, win or lose.

I have a dream that one day, our challenge flags will fly not in confusion, but in wisdom, tossed with conviction, not hesitation.

I have a dream that the ghost of Noll will sweep through the halls of the Steeler's front office reminding them that discipline, precision, traditions and character is the Steeler way.

This is our time my friends. Let the terrible towels wave as banners of redemption. Let it be known throughout the league that we are no longer a team of talent wasted, but of potential reborn from the ashes of what was known as Tomlinships.

When that first pass is thrown over the middle of the field, when the zone blitz lands home, when the team reviews challenges in the booth, and when we finally win a frigg'n palyoff game, we shall shout as one: "Here we go Steelers Here we go!!!".

And a lot of those excuses are not even valid.

A coach who has been with a team for an entire generation doesn't have a significant say in roster decisions? OK

The QB excuse might have some validity, but people tend to forget how the team fell flat relative to expectations during the last decade of Roethlisberger's career.

Also, does anyone have any confidence in Tomlin's ability to develop a young QB?

It would take a certain amount of illicit substance consumption to believe that.
Spot on Punxy! Tomlin has never had the ability to develop any young player or choose coordinators that can. Far past due for this change.

I wager that 10 years from now, the narrative will be that Mike Tomlin took over an aging, declining roster with no QB, no talent, no HOF players and miraculously guided that wobbly team to two SB appearances and 1 SB victory in his first four seasons because of geniosity.

"He was a real-life Ted Lasso!"
LOL!

My comment wasn't about this year it was about the last 14. And no, he didn't want a less talented offense. JFC some of the **** people say is bizarre.
