Game Notes

Ben should be called Dr. BigBen and Mr. Hyde depending on where he plays.
Antonio Brown was mugged in the second pick And on an incomplete pass in the endzone. Apparently Brown can be stopped, with a lot of help from the refs, just ask Sherman.
Nix should always be part of the running game, the kid is mean as hell
Bell, is there anything else to say? oh yeah, Coach thinks he's a middle of the pack RB
the D beat the **** out of Taylor, sacks all over the place despite the "superior" bills Oline. Dupree is already making a difference
Artie Burns and Sean Davis keep making plays, amazing rooks. Don't care about one or two mistakes, they are playmakers and keep improving.
The Boz is still The Boz
Nice playcall by Haley today in general
same goes for Butler, good blitzes and kept shady to JAG

* If Ben doesn't clean up his decision making, we lose by 2nd round of playoffs, if we make it. I just can't STAND him being careless.

* Did you see the company Bell keeps for RBs who had 5 200 yard games in the first 45? TD, LT, Peyton. Unreal.

* Davis continues to make plays as does Mr. Burns.

* Shazier, finally fully healed, is BALLING.

* Dupree rounding into form. Look out.

* Gay can still play.

* Finney is for real. Foster is much bigger but can't move like F man.

* Green didn't do much, but his presence still opens things up, now that teams have to pay attention to him.

* D is starting to fly all over; that sack from You, me and Dupree was all hustle. He got him on the comeback. Impressive hustle.

* Tip of the cap to Tomlin and coaches; they didn't do anything stupid and overall it was a solid game plan.

The third pick was under thrown and bad, should've threw it higher and a bit deeper in case the LB did drop, but the other two, per Batch on the post game, were wrong routes.
It's just nice to finally see the defense and running game win a game when Ben wasn't at his best

That was the best part of this game even with Ben not having a good game we dominated them..that's a team. Ben will bounce back.

Couple of points:

Pouncey with an excellent tackle on Ben's first INT.
Sean Davis with a pancake block on Burns' INT.
Boz is back!
Roosevelt ******* Nix. The Snowplow is making plays!
Bell doubled his TD output on the season in one game!
Bell ran for more yards than Ben passed for.
Bell went from 10th to 4th in rushing yardage in that game.
Bell is over 1000 yards in 3 less games than the rest of the top runners.
Burns, as a rookie, has 3 INTs
Shazier, when healthy, is a monster. And he's healthy!
Dupree with a statement game with 2 sacks. Great to have some pressure from OLBs not named Harrison. (also kudos to Davis with his 1.5 sacks)

Sean did get fooled on the TD. He was looking at the QB, not Watkins. That was a rookie mistake.

Ben’s performance in this game matched the types of games where we have tended lose to an inferior opponent just when we are gaining some momentum and “stacking wins.” In those games, we often are playing ok at first then a turnover seems to embolden the opponent and cause us to start falling apart. The first drive was the perfect example of the first half of this problem. A great drive lost to an interception in the red zone. However, two things occurred.

1. The defense played great for most of the game. By example again, the defense shut down the Bills after that first interception, getting us the ball back quickly and with decent field position. We were then able to quickly make up for the missed points.
2. Bell.

Hopefully, this is a sign of the team being able to help Ben when he’s off and for the team to not win or lose based solely on Ben’s play.

that's a luxury you can do when playing safety, but playing direct coverage over watkins he had to stick to him. He'll learn from it

Loved seeing Rosie Nix blasting people both on special teams and as a lead FB. That was straight old school smashmouth Steeler football. I kept thinking back to the Bus against the Bears 9 years ago. Bell demolished Buffalo yesterday. Its always fun to make Rex Ryan our *****

cold, snowy, windy day.....tough to have pin point accuracy. on the first one it almost looked like he was trying to pull the ball back in but couldn't hold it....

Hindsight being 20/20 - Ben was not the only QB to struggle yesterday in the cold...

1. Russell Wilson
2. Drew Brees
3. Dak Prescott
4. Eli Manning

All of these gentlemen struggled mightily yesterday...

I don't understand how, week in and week out, we get molested on offense and rarely get a flag. BUT, somehow, on a deflected pass that gets returned for a pick 6 TD - we get called w/ "defensive holding on #28"??? I'm still angry about that...

I agree Berm. That holding play did not affect the play at all, if you even call it holding. This coaching staff has to do a better job at getting in the refs ears about AB being held. They did do it with Harrison a bit being held at OLB, but AB now needs to be given special attention. Especially since he's a 'smaller' receiver.

Congrats to Mike Tomlin for being the 3rd Steelers HC to win 100 games behind Chuck Noll and Bill Cowher. Reportedly in the locker room post game he was presented the game ball by Ben Roethlisberger. Lawrence Timmons was Mike Tomlins first draft pick as a HC for the Steelers. Doesn't seem that long ago!
There are enough detractors of Mike Tomlin and those who respond with assertions that some of Tomlins wins were with a team Bill Cowher built who cares. I'm hoping THIS Tomlin led team has about 7 more wins in them thru Feb of next year!
And like a previous poster commented, other QB's struggled in yesterdays cold. I'm thankful the Steelers have found a running game that can be lethal. And Roosevelt FA King Nix?? I hope they use Nix with a laser sight on that jagoff Burfict Sunday
