Game Balls, Game Goats & FU's...........vs Colts.....

I don’t know who the **** thinks he is a franchise QB. What I do know is he is the QB of my team and I am willing to give him a chance to prove himself. Without criticizing every little ******* thing. It’s obvious he’s not Ben. Few are. I do give him credit today for hanging in there when he was about to get clobbered a few times. He does have a calmness about him. Hopefully he can open it up a bit.......he threw tons of long balls successfully in college.

Seriously? There were people on this board that were ok with Ben being hurt because it was time for the Rudolph era. There were threads started about how Ben may not get his job back because of Rudolph. So if you don't know who the **** thinks that then you aren't reading this board very well.

I expect the QB to at least look the receivers way a few times a game. Mason had zero interest in throwing to the receivers once again this week. You knew every time he dropped back today it was going to Samuels. He's done some nice things, but mostly safe things. I haven't watched and though "franchise QB" yet. I've watched and thought he could have the upside of an Andy Dalton type so far. Maybe as the season progresses we will see a bit more.
He hit the open man. He cannot have an agenda of throwing to the wide receivers more. Hit the first guy open.

I think the majority know what they have in BigBen and are taking a wait and see approach- not knowing what they have yet in Rudolph. Not sure who was really ok with Ben hurt. I think it was more of ok let's make the best of this and look at this situation in the best light possible. And if there was one idiot thinking otherwise? Welcome to life where there is always that one that makes you shake your head. That doesn't speak for the consensus of the board.

No calling bullshit. I don't even think it is a majority that think he is a franchise. I think you are confusing hoping with thinking.
Rudolph is a 2nd year player that everyone thinks is a franchise QB. That's different than playing a guy that's been on 8 teams and can't stick because he's so bad.

Slash........turning into the voice of reason.....thumbs up.

Vader.......I can read the board very well, thank you much. When Ben went down, obviously there was going to be a lot of emotional responses. Experience in life has taught me to have a little patience. Not going to crown him a hall of fame player, but I sure as **** am not going to throw him under the bus after a few starts.

Seems to me the two board favorites - Mike Tomlin and Bud Dupree - deserve plenty of respect & kudos for this team to be sitting here at 4-4.

Who thinks he’s a franchise QB? I think it’s obvious the Steelers don’t have one of those active right now. Personally, I think if Rudolph doesn’t get it going against the Rams, you gotta take a look at Hodges or even Lynch.

I think the schedule has helped a bit.

The Colts are the only team the Steelers have beaten with a winning record and they did their best to give the game away.
I'm not sold on Durpee because I remember Jason Worilds playing well for one-half of one season in his contract year too then going back to sucking after he got the franchise tag money.

I’lll take the intra-conference win but the truth is the Steelers really deserved to lose that game. With four minutes left, they played like they were ahead by two scores instead of two points.

Deserved to lose but also deserved to win. The Dolts would have been nowhere near FG territory if the refs hadn't given them 30+ yards on PI calls/no calls. The NFL put the PI rule in and is now afraid to overturn anything on the field, no matter how bad the call. We've gotten screwed on the PI replay 3 times in 2 weeks. Someone needs to have the balls, take the fine and speak out about how ridiculous this replay rule is if the NFL refuses to actually use it. It's just wasting time during the game. Get rid of it or use it.

Funny story. So I’m out walking the new pup. My neighbor (after Mia game) all pumped up says ******* Steelers yeah baba! I’m like didn’t know you were fan. She was like yes, but MF is her cousin. She was going nuts when we got him and more importantly stocked he got over on them.

This post is useless without pictures.

Rudolph's biggest problem right now is moving out of the pocket when initial receivers are not open. This is what Ben does best and he should be coaching him up on this.

Best thing about yesterdays game was the mini breakout by Washington. If he becomes a solid #3, we should see the offense improve each week.

Fitchner to me was the game goat. Play calling in red zone was pretty bad. Overall offensive game plan not too good.

for ***** sake Fitcher create a gameplan to get juju more involved and perhaps both johnson and washington with some easy shallow crosses, the 5 wide I have seen all year Villineuva is not holding as well as he used the LE/ROLB I think they need to get mason more rolling out and throwing because all he has had time with the 5 wide set was dump it it to Samual but this was also a great front 7 the OL faced, use Vannett to help chip on the strong side.
use more 3 wr 2 TE sets 1 RB with the set both juju and thompson set wide and vannet first to chip next to villineuva and vance to to up the seem and run a out or a simple comeback, just watch how SF uses Kittle he runs the same route 5-8 up and then s out or at times he will run a deep cross and then you can have Edmunds or Samuals run a wheel or circle route.
I liked the new rover set only thing I would change is play haden press and nelson a few yads of the WR.

Making a tackle for 3 yd. Loss on 3 Rd down. 4th down kick coming as you knew it would. Sorry I do to see it as a look at me moment worthy of running 15 yards toward the opposite end of the field. But you do. That's ok.

gameball the D shared between minkah dupree and watt
goat both Fitcher and Tomlin for the 2nd challange no coach is going to win those maybe the way that ******* in foxboro in the homeless hodies works the refs ny with Riverton maybe overrule a OP penelty.
FU Nelson Fitchner poor tackling and that play should of had Samuals as the RB and a toss nut up the gut vs these Colts, yes vs the 2005 ones a simple counter
I think Ben with the playbook and with commincation with mason could guide him better.

I kinda disagree with the outrage on the PI call
It was definitely PI and the ball was overthrown by 30ft. Now if the WR was not slowed and stumbling could that 30ft be made up? 30ft for a WR running full speed is not much time at all. I think it is feasible the ball would have been really close if the WR was able to run full speed there. I think it was almost impossible to overturn

They won in spite of the coaches with some pretty good fortune. Tomlin's use of challenges in relation to the time was beyond unbelievable.

The challenge on the PI was a very good idea. The ******* call moved the Dolts from the 15 to midfield, with the game in the balance. THAT is when you use a challenge. Also, Tomlin was 100% correct on the challenge since it was not PI. The incidental contact on a ball 7 yards overthrown should NEVER have resulted in a flag in the first place.

**** the refs. In the ***. With a barbwire-wrapped cactus.

This is a feast or famine defense. If they don't get TOs they give up TDs. The Steelers were lucky that they were playing a 2nd string.. 3rd string if Luck is still there.. QB. He ate them up but he also made some horrible mistakes.

It's bullshit that the NFL forced the Colts to play without their starting QB. The league should have continued the game until Brisket was good to go. No NFL team should ever have to play without their starting QB.

Randy Moss doesn't catch that ball. The replay system itself should be scrapped and used only in the case of turnovers and targeting. The NCAA rule and replay has really helped with targeting. That's it. Live with a catch or not. Oh, and if you do this hire full time ******* refs.

Not one person - literally, not one - said he or she was glad Ben was hurt, Rudolph is better, etc.

NOT.
ONE.
PERSON.

What I have said is that Rudolph is better than given credit for. "Oh, he sucked today, the defense saved him, he blows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sometimes humans are not video games. Aaron Rodgers blew crusty goats yesterday. Against a Chargers D our 3rd ******* string QB beat. Why? Because it is the NFL, QB's are human and **** happens.

I think Rudolph is much, much, much better next week against a pretty good D.

Way to change what I said. I never said GLAD... I said they were ok with it because they believed Rudolph was just as capable. You can go back and find the thread where they were debating on who should start next year.

So either you didn't read what I wrote or you just want to stir some ****.

More hyperbole and non sense. I was just pointing out that obvious.

Not sure if anyone said Rudolph was better but there were definitely people on here that seemed happy it happened and felt Ben would not get his job back. So, take it for what it's worth.

Rudolph still could be that guy of the future but he has a ways to go to prove himself. Tomlin/Fichtner have no clue how to develop a QB and certain other position players. That is why it should have been a top priority to have a QB coach dedicated to Dobbs, Rudolph and now Hodges. Just poor coaching there. And poor coaching not knowing how to get a young, new QB comfortable in games by running certain routes right off the bat. Every other coach seems to know to do that but not ours. Our play calling is horrible. I still can't think of any quick crossing routes in any of the games that are easy to complete and will get you 5+ yards with the potential to get a whole lot more if the receiver breaks it. We just rarely run those easy patterns that Brady and others have made a living on.
