Nothing like a good old fashioned beat down of a Divisional Opponent. I knew it wasn't going to be good for the Bungles when they Tweeted a pic of the NFL's First Terrorist TJ Douchemanzedah wiping his cleats with our beloved Terrible Towel. First off what a performance by Ben and I still think he can get better.......he had a nice streak today where he seemed to really be on top of his game.....He's still going to get better as he still hasn't played a complete game. Burrow looked pretty good early but after about the first half of the game the Defense seemed to figure him out. The Defense didn't give up a 3rd down conversion today as Cincy went 0 for 13 on 3rd down conversions.....a great performance from the Defense.....except one big pass play to Tee Higgins that setup the Bungles only TD.....looked like Cam Sutton had a breakdown in coverage there. The Defense today seemed a little bit better on run Defense with Alualu in there. Still would like to see some improvement there in the run Defense but it definitely seems like the arrow is pointing up there. If there's one thing to be concerned with when it comes to the 2020 Steelers it's our failure the last 3 games to generate a running game. in the past 3 games our Steelers have put up 138 yds rushing on 54 carries (2.55ypc) which is just not cutting it. I wish the Steelers would have given a few more rushing attempts to Benny Snell today early. Steelers have got to be able to run the football in January because if you get a lead on an opponent like KC you've got to be able to take the air out of the football so to speak to keep KC's offense off the field because I'm not sure our Offense can win a shootout vs a team like KC. I'm not sure what Fitchner was thinking trying all these end arounds and sweeps to the outside with Claypool & Ray-Ray trying and get our running game going but those type of plays drive me crazy.....today's Defenses are just too damn quick to even get any type of positive yardage. Jordan Berry might have started off his first game punting pretty terrible but he's certainly picked it up the last 2 weeks.....he hit some b00mers today and pinned the Bungles deep several times today. Nice to see some Steeler Defenders strip that ball loose today Cam Sutton on Tee Higgins and it looked like Derrick Watt or Ola Adeniyi on the punt return too. Saw some struggles today on the O-line.....Big Al had some struggles today as Carl Lawson was pushing him around several times today but Big Al and the O-line didn't give up a sack to the Bungles today. I saw in the 2nd Quarter Zach Gentry on the field for the first time ever playing in an NFL game....he had a nice block downfield....he's certainly a big dude.....I'd like to see him get a chance at a few receptions. Nice to see Avery Williamson get in the game with about 10 minutes to go in the game....saw him get in on a few tackles....seemed a little hesitant at times but that's to be expected. Special Teams still continue to make an impact week in, week out which is nice to see....Ray Ray McCloud is a good return man. Our Steelers are 9-0 for the first time in Franchise History and this has been one hell of an enjoyable season so far......I'm a little concerned about the Jacksonville game next weekend but lets just take it one game at a time.....I hope Tomlin can keep this team focused on the prize....he's done a great job so far. The talent on this team is almost ridiculous........Let's enjoy this one for the next 24 hours and then focus on the Jaguars in Jacksonville next Sunday.

Injuries per Tomlin's Post Game:
Trey Edmunds - Hamstring.....wasn't able to finish the game today.....he's being evaluated.

Game Balls:
Ben Roethlisberger - For the past 2 weeks now Ben has carried this team to victory.....and he still hasn't played his best football yet.....27 for 46 333yds 4 TD's today
Dionte Johnson - 6 rec 116yds 1 TD - First 100 yd game receiving......Congrats Dionte!
Juju Smith Schuster - 9 for 77yd 1 TD - He seems to come up with a clutch catch when it matter most....his TD grab today on 3rd down was a perfect example of that
Chase Claypool - 4 rec 56yds 2 TD's
Minkah Fitzpatrick - Stats won't show it but he shut down some of the passing lanes for Joe Burrow today.....he's playing at a very high level right now
TJ Watt - I saw on at least 2 plays he was put in a Stranglehold by the Bungles RT and no Flag was thrown for holding....despite all this he still had 2 sacks & 2 TFL
Joe Haden - It's not the first time but it's another shut out for Joe Haden vs AJ Green who was held without a catch again
Jordan Berry - Berry has another great game punting....he pinned Cincy deep several times today

Game Goats:
Randy Fitchner - I cringed everytime I saw a sweep play trying to get around the end whether it was Conner, Claypool or Ray-Ray......UGH...I HATE THAT PLAY!

FU's:
TJ Houshmanzedeh - The NFL's First Terrorist who blew up his very own Cincy Bungles when he wiped his cleats with a Terrible Towel in a 2005 regular season game! 15 Years and they are still CURSED! FU TJ! I LOVE IT!

Agree 100% on the jet sweep. That works maybe once a game.

I don’t think it’s much Fichtner as it is run blocking. It sucks

It's Fichtner. When Ben abandoned his garbage calls, the lights went out.

Excellent post Chicoman, I really like these of yours as you do a VERY very good job. Usually spot on and gospel.

GOAT to STs and bubbles is stepping things up, need it and like it.

Fu's - talking heads leading up to this game on both game and CPOY topics.

Salute the nation

Big Ben gets my tip of the hat. A week where both knees are banged up and he doesn't get to practice he throws for four TDs and over 300 yards.

Chico I loved your breakdown solid.....

All I could think about as Johnson was making plays today is how half this board would be finding ways to say he wasn't good enough, lol.

DJs change of direction skills are just beautiful.

Why can't we run the ball anymore?

I watch so many other teams... they all seem to have a quick shifty RB that just goes.... and Conner seems like a slug. Surely we have someone better at this point.

Not for nothing, but he did have an easy drop early in the game that killed a drive. He fell down immediately after a catch again early in the game. He showed some of his ceiling, but also showed what's holding him back. When he's good he's really good. But it's not consistent yet

In my opinion, Earl Campbell could not run behind this line. That's not a knock on them, this line was not built to provide running lanes. This line was built to keep Ben upright.

everything associated with the run game is garbage. It starts with the design. It is clear that Fichtner takes the run game for granted and is only concerned with designing pass plays. The Bengals run defense is awful. They give up over 5 yards per carry but to the steelers they were the 85 Bears,

Too much shotgun. Too much 2 point stance for the OL. If you insist on shotgun, at least use the pistol with Conner directly behind the QB and not on the side. That allows him to take a handoff moving forward instead of the shotgun handoff where he's standing still and then usually has to move horizontally.

Whatever the problem is at runblocking its time to either fix it or go run and shoot... bring on the B gun baby... 5 wide or spread runs... put in a fullback package for the red zone only

Agree 100% on the jet sweep. That works maybe once a game.

Vilma made a good point that the Jet sweep only works when the defense is worried about the run up the middle. The point of the Jet sweep is to make the DEs hesitate and not crash down to stop the run up the middle. When they don't care about stopping the run, stopping the sweep is real easy.

Part of why they aren't connecting on deep balls is the lack of the run as well. DBs aren't worried about any play fakes.

Fichtner is trying to get the big plays that come from play fakes without establishing the run.

Why can't we run the ball anymore?

Because they don't really try to run the ball. Right now, they need to run it north and south, forget the plays where you try to trick the other team and run the ball like a man. Ben spent a good portion of the day in 2nd and long or 3rd and long and managed to make lemonade out of oranges. This offense, playing the way they are tight now isn't getting out of the 2nd round of the playoffs. The offense is soft and relies 100% on Ben, he can't afford a single mistake right now, not an INT, not a fumble, not a bad sack, nothing, otherwise the offense goes 3 and out.

They need to figure out a way to run the damn football.

Game Balls: Ben, WRs, TJ, Berry
Goats: Running game
