FWIW, Steelers are Giving Burns an Opportunity to Make this Team

I want the guy to be all pro this year. When i take off the glasses i see him chasing guys into the endzone.

I would LOVE for Burns to have a phoenix like rise from the ashes.

Unfortunately, even if he DOES start out playing well, one mistake could get into his head and turn him back into a basket case. The knock Tomlin has given him is that he's too dumb or too in his head to play the game. It's not his physical tools, but his headspace. And headspace aint easy to change. I truly hope he becomes a major asset. I just aint betting the house on it.

As I posted before, this team's track record with drafting and/or coaching up CBs is nothing short of horrendous. They are like 1 out of 10.

Sutton - his 3rd year now, has done almost nothing his 1st two.
Burns - blows
Golson - most hurt player ever
Grant - stunk
Hawthorne - junk
Keenan Lewis - took too long to get on the field, by the time he did he left for NO.
Willie Gay - best of Cool Shades CB picks.

Other CB additions....

Coty Sensabaugh
Joe Haden
Antwon Blake
Ross Cockrell

Kind of like the kicker re: the headspace. I don't know if it was a good thing or a bad thing that they brought Shaun Suisham back for a little mentoring.

for the last spot in the dime its going to be a 3 way fight Sutton Burns Layne with Allen expected to play a hybrid role in the dime
Heyward Tyson Tuitt
CB Haden Nelson Slot Hilton blitzing CB or over top Sutton/Burns/Layne
S Davis S Edmunds hybrid blitz on te back Allen

just read Dale's article over at DK. Based on that article, I suspect the team is just trying to polish him up a bit before camp in hopes of a trade in camp to a CB needy team (injuries happen). He predicts a fairly late round conditional if anything.

Maybe it is all in his head, but that is unlikely to change here.

Yeah that is what I was wondering if they are grooming him for a possible trade.

Maybe a late 7 lulz.

Weather Burns makes the team or not is yet to be determined. I hope they don't pay the $800G just to find out if he will be good enough to trade. If we pay the $$$$, I hope they see something in him that will make him stick. Mental is such a fine line and a hell of a lot harder to cross back once you've crossed the line. Ike Taylor got benched and somewhat called out but I don't think his "mental" waqs nearly as fragmented as Artie's is currently. We don't have day to day privy to him so it's up in the air for us.......maybe front office already knows their plan with him.

Salute the nation

Well Ike had a coaching change to help his rebound.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm

:pound:

I'm suspecting they're hoping to trade him too. But, maybe him going through camp without facing AB constantly might help. Just saying AB was probably an unwinable war, despite him looking good against him in reps. Maybe he just needs to go dominate some good WRs instead of hanging with an exceptional one. Food for thought anyway.

I'm with DIC. They don't have a choice but to put him on an island and see what he does. There's $1.7M in cap space on the line and the team would drain their coffers to pay it out to a player that could potentially be game day scratched just about every week. Show you can gain your spot back ( unlikely ) or show enough that we can get a little "some some" for the effort.

They didn't bring Nelson in to sit and watch
