Future HOF, Brandon Boykin, cut from Panthers

His tweet about it paraphrased said crazy life in the nfl and on to the next didn't sound like someone who was in trouble. Odd. Maybe he is as dumb as a hammer.

According to his tweet, it doesn't sound like an upcoming suspension. If it were, his tweet would make him look stupid.

If not a PED thing, this guy must be a flaming *** hole, to get cut before even camp. Watching his limited play last year, he played pretty well. He can cover and has ball skills.

And a lot of players have tudes, and don't get cut. He's got to be a total dick, if he can't stay on a roster just from his tude.

I think this goes beyond being a total dick. You don't cut a guy before team activities start if he's a total dick. How would they know? He hasn't been around the team yet.

But he could just be dumb. And the Panthers brass brought him in and asked the Steelers what the problem was and they said he was stupid. Then they saw him themselves and said Holy ****. He is stupid.

Yea, that sounds logical (it not being about him being a dick, since he wasn't even around team activities yet).

But, I am sure you have been around guys who are anti-company, always looking to bag on the company/team. That team obviously has team chemistry; you don't win 16 games if you don't. Maybe in his exchanges with teammates (although limited, but I am sure there has been some, such as texts, etc.) he has exhibited a poor team attitude and the players, not having an "us vs. them" tude relayed it to the coaches? I could be all wet on this. It doesn't seem plausible that anyone could express such a negative tude to get cut even before camp. I really think this guy can play. He would have to have a gargantuan bad 'tude for him to not be wanted at all.

You don't have to be a brain surgeon to play in the NFL, especially at non-QB positions. But as we have witnessed with players such as Ant Smith and Sharko, you can indeed be too stupid to play DB in the NFL. That is a fact; those two really are dumber than a bag of hammers, to the point of their stupidity not allowing them to be successful in this league. But I can't imagine being the reason for his being cut here. They would have no interaction with him to now deem him too dumb. It's got to be something else. Do you think he could have possibly started racial crap this soon? The word out of Philly was he was stirring up "Kelly doesn't like black players" conflicts over there. I can't imagine that could be it either, Rivera isn't even white himself and has a black QB. That just can't be it.

I think it's young person slang for "attitude".

"Young person?" I think most ppl under 70 know that 'tude is short for attitude, seriously. Litos is from Mexico, so it makes sense that he didn't know. I think if I used "'tude" in a sentence, my dad would know what I meant.

Speculate much???

(Sigh). Again, what is a message board for if not to "speculate" and express opinions? Where else is a more appropriate place to do that? I feel that is mostly what message boards are for: make predictions, express opinions, etc.

Maybe the guy is a total ******* and it also made him ride the bench here

I said that months ago when Tomlin refused to give him a chance and everyone was asking why. I'm guessing his attitude is garbage.

Now I see that you can't get sarcasm. of course I knew what tude meant , that's why I answered that it sounded "tarded" to use it, because let's be honest, sounds stupid. I probably understand more slang talk than the average person with English as his/her first language, also use better grammar and spelling than them.

And finally I'm not from Mexico, where did you get that from? Don't tell me you are one of those persons that think that everything south of your border is Mexico? You seem smarter than that.

I must have you confused with another poster who said they lived in Mexico city and offered to give us a tour if we travelled there if the Steelers came down. That's who I thought you were.

And if you think you're in the "cool club" for being a dick when I did nothing to warrant it, then pat yourself on the back and tell yourself how awesome you are.

And, yes, as if I didn't realize everything south of the US wasn't Mexico. Gee whiz, I never looked at a map or globe, or actually travelled in Mexico.

But thanks for going out of your way to be a dick,. Maybe you are just trying to illuminate Boykin's problem. I find it curious that you knew what "'tude" meant but questioned aloud what its definition was. Now you act like it was obvious sarcasm, but that makes me wonder if you know what "sarcasm" even means.

Are you one of those Guatemalan Mexicans? lol

Just wanted to show how dumb a post using that "word" sounded. I agreed with you that Boykin might be a **** stirrer, it doesn't mean I have to agree with you in the words you use, like "tude" (or your denial on proven cheating)

This is very interesting to me, so I'll break down my reasoning.

Steelers cut Boykin after showing some promise in our system.

The Panthers pick him up and could really use a quality slot corner.

Boykin was rated as the top slot corner 2 years ago.

Before training camp even starts, Boykin is cut.

You do not cut a quality corner that can help your team in a position of need at a bargain basement price, unless:

1. He's about ready to be arrested for a crime that would warrant bad press or a suspension.
2. He's about ready to be suspended for violating the NFL banned substance policy. (As SF81 touched on).
3. He has a serious injury. (Though the Panthers would have had to give him some injury compensation to drop him, so I find this option very low on the probability scale)

When Boykin was cut. The Panthers had to eat the $80k signing bonus (not a ton of money, but still it is now dead money). If he was suspended, it would have been his first offense, and would carry a 4 game suspension. I don't personally think you cut a player for violating the league's substance abuse policy, when he'd have the ability to still practice and learn the defense all preseason, only to sit out one month. You'd get a player back, and healthy, and ready to play in October, and this is something that a SB caliber team can roll the dice on with little risk.

My thought is something big is about to come out about him. You don't cut a new player that can help your team when he'd only be missing 4 games. You cut a guy to distance your team from some terrible news that's about to break about that player.

He's probably just a ******* head case. Only thing that makes sense

I never asked you to agree with me on jack ****. I could care less. But you sure went out of your way to be a dick, trying to be popular I suppose.

The use of the term "'tude" is common. But in your drive to "be popular" you apparently had some bizarre issue with it. So, if you were not the poster who claimed to live in Mexico City, I wonder who I have you confused with?

So, if you think the use of the word "'tude" sounded so "dumb" I will be curious to analyze how cognizant your future musings will be.

how do you shorten the word fortitude?

maybe it sounded dumb just because the way you used it twice in the same paragraph, like trying to emphasize it.

finally I've never even being in Mexico city for vacations, have no idea who you are confusing me with, but really, trust me, never said I lived there. I even have vented out on the political and economical situation in my country on the other forums, so those that have been here long enough know where I am; definitly not a place I recommend to visit as a tourist right now, even though it's natural places are still amazing and unique.

I was following a car a few months ago that had a personalized license plate the read: RETRD

I almost pissed myself laughing thinking someone has a lot of balls shortening retard and putting it on a license plate.

Then it dawned on me a few miles later it was probably, at least I hope, short for retired. Sometimes things dawn on me slowly. Age.

I didn't laugh as hard then as I did today though when I saw Boykin was released. I don't know if I ever saw as much angst over someone/something so inconsequential since, well, a 3rd round pick was spent on Dri Archer.

The only instance of Boykin being a malcontent was when he lashed out at Coach Kelly after being traded by the Eagles. Normally this is a big indication that the player is a malcontent, because players rarely lash out at a coach. It's pretty rare in fact. When you have 4 players banging on the same coach, that's on the coach being a big pile of dicks, not on the player. I think San Fran will be very upset this year and will be without a coach in 3.

I agree Chip Kelly had way too much smoke around him in Philly to not have a fire. Far too many players bothered to blow mess on him for there not to be some kind of issue. HOWEVER, Boink also managed to have a big problem with the coaching staff in Pgh too. If his only red flag was Kelly, not that much an indictment. But two coaching staffs in a row, and now, seemingly three? Maybe he has some issues.
