We have a free standing heavy bag for my youngest son's kickboxing in the basement. He is 11 and will be starting pee wee football this spring. We have been using it for me to teach him block and tackle technique. After watching Jarvis Jones make an incredibly sloppy tackle attempt he walks up to the bag and said, "Dad why did 95 just do this" and body checks the bag. I said son tonight is 95's best game of the season.

Jarvis has played better, SD game. It was another solid performance for 95 though.

Did he ask why 50 was trying to tackle air before 95's tackle attempt?

That would have been a good question. Over pursuit and poor angles is dogging this defense. I really blame the new attempts to limit contact in practice training camp for the bad tackling. however, you can practice good modern tackling technique (rugby style) without equipment at all.

yeah, he made a couple Superman like leaps that seemed incredibly athletic, and incredibly poorly aimed and ineffective.

Shazier suffers less injuries when hitting air tho

nobody knows how to tackle anymore. Head up, shoulder and wrap. All these clowns want blast someone and be on Sportscenter

I agree GI. The play in question is a perfect example of that. But also we have to accept that tackling is evolving because it must or football will cease to exist. Football Canada, puts out a safe contact clinic. I've attended it. The technique was brutal in my opinion and involves double under hooks at the armpit and some elements of rugby tackling. That technique is ludicrous in my opinion as a smaller player would get wiped out by a larger opponent. I teach SeaHawk tackling. Though it is in fact an arm tackle (as all modern techniques are because as the head crosses the mid line, you are exposing yourself to greater chance of a head injury. This technique is very rugby oriented, hit the body between the chest and knees, Wrap and roll. I find it works much better especially for smaller players.

I get the feeling that someone keeps playing tape of 43 for Shazier, and then says, "Here son, take at look at this guy. We want you to do that from the LB position".
