Foster gets 3 year deal

rbdWv.gif

Tomlin and Colbert have absolutely nailed it this offseason.

I'd wait until a DB is taken in the first 2 rounds before anointing Tombert an A+. I do agree that SO FAR, they've done everything all of us here have wanted them to do to bring back the most important free agents.

Perhaps the NFL doesn't value our free agents the way we do?

Gay, in my opinion, gave more than a hometown discount, he took a low ball offer. How can a corner who didn't allow a TD pass, broke up many, and has a few pick 6's under his resume get so little in free agency?

Good to get another signing done for a starter.

If Beach signs the 1 year deal they are working on we can hopefully focus 3 of our first 4 picks on the D.

With Foster in the fold, I thin we can focus on 3 of 4 being defensive draft picks anyway.
Now, if a guy like Garnett or Whitehair are around in rd 2 when we pick, I could understand taking either one.
However, at this point, I feel like we should grab a TE and the rest defense in rds 1-4.
Honestly, it should be too hard to predict in terms of positions we attack in the draft.
Rounds 1-4 should hit one of these: TE, G(possibly), CB, S, OLB, DL (depth).
That's it...literally.

Except for the hole at TE, its now all about the defense in the draft. Have no problem with resigning Foster for 3 years.

I can see a late round rb maybe, but its pretty much rock solid the draft will be all d and maybe a te

We are about to sign Ladarius Green, so TE has been filled.

Agreed.

My thoughts were we could keep Gay but few others. Or we can keep Foster and Mclendon, but not Gay. I was shocked at the low offer Gay agreed to. Is McClendon the odd man out? I wasn't a fan of his production in the nickel or dime.

If McClendon leaves, this is a very deep DT draft. I think we can get a better player in roudn 1 or 2.

Though keeping Gay was a huge win, the pass defense sucked with him. DB's and Pass rushers are needed.

No complaints from me. The Hey-Bey signing a little odd to me, but I can live with it.

From Aditi on Twitter: Typical Steelers deal for vet stalwart G Ramon Foster. Guarantee is just $2.75M, or... his signing bonus. Whole deal is $9.6M over 3 years

Man. The Steelers are sure getting some good value on all their FA signings so far this offseason.

I don't know what magic powers Khan & Colbert possess, but these deals they are signing are simply NUTS! All the deals they've just signed are on point: DHB, Gay, Golden, and now the Foster and Green deals. I don't know how they do it. They will be in the GM financial HOF if they keep this up. I wouldn't swap our front office with any other in the league.

I read somewhere that Foster stated it wasn't about the money but bringing another ring to Pittsburgh.

Got to love his loyalty. Told his agent to get best deal done with Pittsburgh. He didn't want to play anywhere else.

Nice!

Given the fact the cap is going up like $10 million a season, these types of deals the Steelers are getting for starters is pretty amazing.

Hell, I think $3-$4 million/season for a starting guard is like 2010 money (even middle of the pack guys like Foster).

The continuity alone is worth $1 million to me because everyone knows O-line play is about 75% talent and 25% working together as a group. This also lets up spend $8-9 million on DeCastro and not really overpay for the O-line group as a whole (especially if we decide on Villanueva/rookie as our LT).
