Great game for Kordell! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijlGk6G5p5k
This is the types of games people tend to forget, but the man was talented.Man took a lot of unfair criticism and grief ...
He was who he was... an exciting football player that I enjoyed watching....good and bad..
The one thing I took from the video was how loud 3 Rivers was...
Just as good as O’Donnell imo...
And definitely more entertaining to watch..
I think even Mr. “I want entertainment “ would agree with that lol
Seriously? How many SBs did Kordell start in? Do you remember the game that happened a few weeks after this game to the same opponent?
BTW here are their stats:
O'Donnell: 57.8 Comp%, 120 TDs 68 Ints 81.8 Passer rating
Stewart: 55.8 Comp%, 77 TDs 84 ints 70.7 Passer rating
Yea, Kordell was just as good a QB as O'Donnell... right. Also Kordell had a playoff comp% of 48.6 with 2 TDs and 8 ints.
O’Donnell 39-22
Kordell 46-29
Records as Steeler QB’s
O’Donnell 39-22
Kordell 46-29
Records as Steeler QB’s
Kordell .631 win %
Neal.... .5897 win %
It's a fan wide misperceptions on Kordell being below par.

I think by "as a Steelers QB", he meant the records excluding when they played for other teams.I could be wrong but I think that is why that was mentioned."As a Steeler QB" ... what a load of crap. It's a team sport. we were talking about the QB position NOT the best team they played on. Kordell was an erratic, worm burning QB that couldn't handle it in the playoffs. He wasn't in O'Donnell's league. People ***** about O'Donnell because of 2 ints where the WR ran the wrong route both times. So don't give me team stats (like when the rats went 7-1 with Dilfer and won a SB) when talking about QBs.
I think this is a fair assessment. I think their win losses should be factored into the mix too. Championships are the ultimate want but you want your QB to be leading your teams to wins too. Both QBs had their moments despite fans wanting to diss one or the other. Trust me they were a lot better than what we saw on the field last year in that monstrosity of a watch. The other similarity between Kordell and Neil. They both played with lights out defenses and fell short. Neil was a better passer. Kordell was a great athlete. By far the most elusive qb in the teams history that I can think of.
Your math is way off.
O'Donnel's winning percentage was 63.9
Kordell's was 61.3 %
SteelerSask:
Eirheart (sp) did just that for the couple years he was there. He divided the field into 1/3s and plays for that so as Kordell only had to worry about 1/3 of the field / reads. Kordell excelled at that time and then new OCs did what you describe.

Very true, but only playing a 1/3 of the field is a limiting factor that the defenses could exploit too. Modern offenses and rules would really benefit a Kordell Stwart type player. The only players I can think of with his type of elusiveness are Vick and Cunningham. And now you have Jackson and Wilson.

I think Vick, Jackson, and Kordell were/are the elite speed freaks. I think everyone else is a notch below what they could do run wise.
