Yeah a dumb move on his part. They should have kicked the FG.

With the way that game went back and forth, you take the points when you can get them. Caldwell was an idiot when he was in Indy and nothing has changed in Detroit.

I would have kicked.

He rolled the dice and lost.
Our they were three feet from the endzone, and our offense was hardly impressive after the first drive. I can understand his decision.

That red zone defense of ours was incredible tonight.
Game balls around.

Yet Tomlin had that looked when Lions had ball with under five minutes and moved to the two yard line. Tomlin stood by as we had two absolutely questionable play calls with five minutes left. Lets all agree we had a good win but if it was not for some great defensive play inside five yard line we would not be Patting Tomlin on back.

This thread wasn't about praising Tomlin, although I think he tends to take the blame for everything that goes wrong - whether he had anything to do with it or not. It was more about the stupidity of Caldwell. Had he taken the FG, it might have been a different outcome. We escaped with one, but I'll take it!!

Those goal line stands saved our ***. We left too many points on the field.
Rogers and DHB drop TDs. Bell fumbles on the I think the Lions 10.

DHB dropped a touchdown? When? You can't be talking about the horrible throw from Ben. Even Stevie Wonder could see that DHB had zero chance to catch that horrible throw.

Funny Vince Williams did exactly that after the game. Credited Tomlin for the red zone defense.

I thought the defensive scheme was horrible and the decision to not play harrison is confusing at best.

Caldwell did mess up as well might have cost them the game

Early last week, the Steelers defense was challenged by its head coach regarding its play in the red zone.

“(Coach Mike Tomlin) called us out in front of the whole team,” Williams said. “Fortunately, we had not given up too many trips into the red zone, but when we did give up trips to the red zone, people had been getting touchdowns on us. So he called us out in the beginning of the week, telling us we were going to have opportunities to step up. And I think we did a great job.”

tough to be head coach.

good example of blamed for offensive struggles, but no credit for defensive success.

I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the coaching tree? I would have kicked the FG.

I don't know how many times it was, but, I swear, I saw Watt and Harrison on the sideline with freakin Moats in the game for one play.

That is one of the times you cannot listen to what the player says...

**** ok . Damn i can never seem to get that right. So confusing

Its amazing how in hindsight you always will have done the opposite of something that didnt work. Its scary

I will throw him some credit I haven't heard mentioned yet, not game plan or execution related, but if you look at the replay of the ruckus that broke out at the end of the game, you can see tomlin extend the arms and turn to the sideline to make sure no one went on the field and picked up a suspension.
That's a small action, but considering what it could've become, a smart move.

There's a faction here that wants Tomlin gone no matter what...and that's fine. I'm kinda 50/50...but I still have some faith in the guy.
