Football Team releases Dwayne Haskins

what a waste of a top 10 pick. Career on life support.

I wouldn't even put him on the practice squad. Have fun in Canada.

he's got more time to spend dollars a the titty bar. I looked yesterday. Replacing Ben will not be fun. More than half the first round guys are ok to complete failure.

That's why QBs like Mahomes, Murray, Allen and Herbert are gushed over. They are becoming harder to find.

Franchise QB's have never been easy to find. This is why I have tried to enjoy Ben as much as possible. The time between TB and BB was a long and bumpy ride. I don't expect the ride after BB and the next one to be any smoother (although hopefully shorter)

If Mason don't pan out and I have every reason to think he won't, I would welcome a Ryan Fitzpatrick-type vet that will hold down the fort long enough to find Ben 2.0. Hopefully, it doesn't take a whole decade again to find him.

Is Haskins really worse than our number 2? or number 3? Maybe the money he is owed on his contract isn't worth it but someone thought he was first round material two seasons ago.

Mason hasn't shown me anything to suggest he could be the guy. I suspect that they will try a vet while they develop. Can't get one of note untill Ben's cap is off the books though.

he was on a his rookie contract so that had nothing to do with his release. He was cut, so there is no "carryover" money from his time with WFT. I do not know if there were off field issues, but on the field the guy has just not been very good. Granted, it is only his second year and this year was screwed up with lack of OTA's and a normal training camp. Someone will pick him up, but it won't be PIT. I don't see us adding anyone right now.

I know, as it's crazy high, $41M or something next season. We will need a center, as well. MP said he is done when Ben is done.

Saying that, regarding Haskins, he doesn't seem like a guy that would be good for this football team. Seems selfish, immature and not a team player.

Rudolph was developing last year and got brained twice. He might as well have played zero this yea and everyone is ready to **** on him. I wouldn't mind having a second extended look.

Not ******** on the guy but certainly saying what I said last year. I did not see enough to suggest he will be anything more than a mediocre QB. I don't see the next Franchise in him which is what I mean when I say the guy. He may well be the next man up, but he won't be the franchise.

Haskins hardly played in college. He left a year earlier than most thought he should. OSU coaches told whoever got him to be very patient and let him sit at least his first full year. Sounds like the Skins might have ruined the kid just like so many QB's the Clowns ruined. Maybe he can latch on with a team and sit for a year or so and then get another shot to play again.

hell no!!!

And after Ben, we're probably going to have to have a down year or two to have a shot at a potential franchise type QB, unless we get lucky and one slips.

The question regarding Rudolph is this: Is he = to or > than Tommy Maddox? I consider Tommy our "bridge" QB... meaning he was our bridge between our drought years - leading up to & including Kordell - and on to our franchise QB in Ben. IMO, the jury is still out on Rudolph. Not enough playing time. He had quite the
record-setting connection with JW in college, we should remember.

If Rudolph could be that bridge, and along with a strong D and a physical running game, he may be enough to keep us perennial playoff participants (alliteration, anyone?).

And then a few years later, our next franchise HOF QB falls in our laps. Somehow.

Here in Richmond Va, on the local sports radio station, we get a lot of DC coverage. He is a lazy student, and doesn't put the off-field study work in according to the local guys in DC anyways
