Football is back, sort of

I think that makes 4 Helmet rule penalties. I didn;t see the 1st but 2 of the 3 i did see are bullshit. And the 1 that I sort of agree with was not exactly a kill shot.

I hope refs have been told to call it more often in preseason just to make a point then cut it back in the regular season. If this keeps up, the games will look rigged.

i hope to God you're right. If those absolute nonsense penalties are any indication of what we can expect during the regular season, i think i might be just about done spending any amt of time watching the NFL.

Just take off the facemasks and the players will completely stop using the helmets as weapons.

you can hit with your facemask...it is when you duck your head that is the issue

Bears 1st round pick LB Roquan Smith is holding out because standard contract language says they can take back money if he is suspended. Smith is demanding that they exclude suspensions due to this new helmet rule. He looks like a genius now. After this game, the bears should concede that he has a point.

yep. whatever leg the bears may have THOUGHT they had to stand on before tonight's game, is absolutely nonexistent now. kudos to smith for sticking to his guns

The language Smith wants was included in Barkleys and Gurleys contracts

Ravens just given a TD because of a horrible call on the helmet rule. Play in the endzone, the TE is jumping to make a play. The bears DB hits him to jar the ball loose and does not leap, he does not dip his head because the TE is up higher than him. His helmet (mostly facemask), hits the TE in his elbow. They throw the flag and give Ravens a 1st down.

This high subjective rule will decide games this year. Put the Pats down for 3 wins via this helmet rule in crunch time.

I didn't watch, but I figured this would be the case. I don't know how this stuff is even watchable anymore. I can see some epic **** storm meltdowns over this hot garbage in the regular season.

How? I dont think RBs can put their head down now either

From what I have read I think you are right. The start of the season is going to be a cluster **** regarding this rule.

Demarcus Ayres sighting on the Chicago Bears!...

Ayers had a pretty good game. Five or six catches for about 50 yards - although on the first one the ball was poked out while he ran - and six punt returns for a 12-yard average.

He can play, no question. If the Bears don't want Cohen to return punts anymore, Ayers could make the team.
