IMO, before you draft Trask or Mac Wilson, you have to look ahead to also next year - would we be able to get a better QB in 2021? if so, you hold on taking a QB.
No doubt. Look, I kinda like Wilson. He is a poor man's Brees. However, the 2022 QB pool looks pretty sad. Sam Howell is the top prospect, and he will be gone early. He is 6'1", 225 lbs. About the same size as Wilson, much smaller than Trask. After him? Spencer Rattler, whom I do not like at all. Watched him vs. a mediocre Kansas State defense and he looked like his hair was on fire. Running out of the pocket when he had almost no pressure, throwing into double coverage. "Just a bad game." Maybe. But Rattler is probably 6'0", 200 lbs. Small. Skittish. And he is arguably one of the top QB prospects in the 2022 draft.
Oregon QB Tyler Shough looks like he could get a lot of attention. Bigger guy, some experience last year. But not as good as prospect as Trask, I think, and likely going top-15 anyway.
Take advantage of a VERY deep QB pool in 2021 draft, or risk going after a much, much, much lower-level prospect and hope he pans out.
This draft is DEEP at QB. Waiting until next season is a huge risk. Might wind up with a lot of good pieces, and a QB who is ****.
