Fichtner: Throws were there, Rudolph didn’t make them ?

I know this will go against the grain but I was listening to a guy on Stan's show the other day. He said Mason is missing wide open WRs not only down the field but right in front of him. He said he had a horrible game. One of the worst he'd ever seen. I watched the game but T.V. doesn't show wide angles behind or in front of the QB. So I have no idea if it's true. It's hard to see WRs, TEs, and leaked out RBs on a standard TV shot. But Finch maybe right. Mason may have just missed them. He's nervous and it's his first game to start.

Doesn't matter. The coach does not call out the player in public. Especially a new starting QB. Punk coach. Punk staff.

bengals have pretty good safeties. I'm a bit concerned with all this focus on going deep, that it gets in his head and he goes the opposite way and forces some deep balls and gets INT

Good lord. We have a HOF QB in Ben who misses open players all the time as well. It was Rudolph's first start and they had a ****** game plan for it. Give the man a few games to settle in. This season isn't going anywhere. We probably have less than a 20% chance of even making the playoffs at this point.

Actually that number is closer to 3%.

From this article:https://www.oddsshark.com/nfl/its-over-nfls-0-3-teams

Since 1980, only 3.4% of teams to start 0-3 made the playoffs!

THIS and why is Fitchner defending himself ? If the game plan would have even just been average at best, no need for defense. So now that NOTHING was done to help a young fresh starting QB a little........... Fitchner gets a little heat and his answer is to throw the kid under the bus ? **** that randy, why not defend the crappy game plan or the NON-miss direction or the commit 8 to the box play action or the "many other options" avail;able to help a young QB out???? Tomlin should have taken Randy aside after this interview and rheemed him good but I bet not a dang thing happened, why you may ask? Well look how ******* disciplined tomlin has shown towards things in the past and as long as Randy shows up all is good. STARTS at the top and Art duece best be wide eyed on this.

Salute the nation

Somebody got into Wikipedia and made an update to Fichtner's bio:

Randy “I only call Bubble Screens then blame my second year QB making his first start” Fichtner

Holy hell, our whole coaching staff is a mess. HC, OC, DC, special teams. Fire the whole staff at season's end.

We have regressed as a professional football organization.

Have never witnessed such a total organizational failure with this once proud franchise

Fichner knows he has a new qb and he doesn't call a game to play to the guys strengths?

I was reading some other message boards and a very high percentage of commenters were pushing a Tomlin just needs a new franchise QB. It's all BR's fault! How disengaged from reality are they? I would say that they are clueless.

Tomlin can win if the entire team is put together and coached by someone else. If all he has to do is stand there we're golden.

It worked for his first few years.

I was calling for Hodges. I agree with Stan.

There is really no upside to playing Hodges now. They need to see if Mason is going to be the future QB. No reason to short circuit that now. If Hodges comes in and is just as bad then what do you do? You stay with Mason for this year. They really have no choice.

Slow down there, he wouldn't be a HOF QB if he missed wide open guys all the time, it happens but not all the time.

Gee, after reading this thread I might have fouled up my Stiller-Bengal prediction of Bengals 17, Stillers 10 in the prediction thread. If MR just starts chucking the ball down the field every play the Bengal D backs will have a field day. Could be Bungals 28 Stillers 10.

RUN the ball more and give this kid a chance. Develop a game plan that actually works.

Not sure what you're talking about but according to AB, he was open on every play and we know Ben didn't throw it to him on every down. So, that's a lot of misses right there. LOL

You can tell that Fitchner is starting to feel the heat, and is trying real hard to cover HIS ***. He has watched Tomlin do it for years, and thinks it will save him too, EXCEPT he is NOT a minority coach being kept in place because of optics.

Or the whole team reviewed the tape, and it further validated the belief that they lost one that there should have been no question about. Rudolph played like ****, especially early on. Turning some of this turnovers into td’s shakes the whole ebb and flow of that game. If Ben is in there, is there any doubt that we win that game 38-21, or something along those lines? It was absolutely there for the taking, and we did all we could to give it back. Yes, the gameplan was atrocious, but there were definitely still plays to be made that we left out on that field. The organization feels comfortable going to Rudolph, so they expect more out of him. Fitch could have been a little more colorful in how he answered, but they expect more out of him Becauee he’s made them feel comfortable enough to entrust him. You know, Ben does it to Brown, Brown cries foul, and everyone proceeds to say that it’s tough love; the offensive coach does it, to some extent, and everyone is calling him out. In my opinion, if you demand better, then state it. Let your guys know that there’s zero reason for the results of the previous week, and zero reason to be in the hole that you’ve dug. I dunno, maybe it’s just me, but I don’t necessarily view it as finger pointing. Hell, it could’ve been worse, and Fitch could have gone all Butler, and talk about coaching for a Super Bowl. He didn’t come out and say “Golden gameplan and we should’ve put 50 up out there except for our rookie quarterback not knowing where to go with the ball.” If you cannot answer the call, then your *** doesn’t deserve to be on the field. Rudolph could have been like Baker Mayfield, and took to twitter to complain about it. Instead, it looks like he’s gonna take the high road, and look to rebound this week.

Yeah, because Ben has won so many games recently
