Felony charges dropped, Darrelle Revis, now wants to play for the Steelers

He's gonna be a Steeler next week. Based on MTC intuition. I could be wrong so don't take me seriously atm

Now you're boo-hooing about baltimore signing an ok cb like brandon carr?? Get a hold of yourself

You got to win your division first before you lose to the Patriots,

Go back dreaming of your Biltzburgh

Do you really think he's signing for anything less than $6 mil? To lose out on guaranteed millions because "gosh, what a great opportunity for a hometown kid to come home and help solidify that Pittsburgh secondary!"...?

My understanding is that Revis is getting $6MM this year guaranteed no matter what a new team would pay him. If we offer vet minimum, he gets vet minimum from us and the rest of the $6MM from the Jets. If we offer $5MM, he gets $5MM from us and $1MM from the Jets. Unless someone offers more than $6MM -- then in that case, he will get whatever the new team is offering, and the Jets are completely off the hook. So basically, unless someone else will throw more than $6MM at him (very doubtful) he can sign for the vet min here and make the same exact amount of money as he would if he signed for $6MM here. This is why I do not understand why we can't at least kick the tires, bring him into camp, let him compete for a roster spot. As long as no other team is offering more than $6MM, we could pay him vet minimum to literally come into camp and prove himself, nothing more, and Revis still gets his $6MM from the Jets. Why is this seen as so risky? Someone explain what I'm missing here.

And no, I do not think he's getting MORE than $6MM after the year he had. And I thought I read he said he'd be willing to play for vet min (given his contract situation) and that the Steelers would be a dream come true. So, yeah, I fail to see the risk in simply bringing the man in and having a conversation and trying to get a deal done. Just going to dismiss it without even trying?

That is correct. The Jets pay the difference between what we would pay, for example, and the 6 million.

2 yr deal:
2017: Vet min; thanks Gangrene.
2018: scaled pay related to games/plays/performance in 2017 season.

win/win; camp body at worst.

This is what I would do

Maybe 2018 salary is like 5 mil or something. If he can play, or hell, even start, then it gives us time to draft a stud corner to pair with Burns. If they can work it out, salary wise, I say why not. We just need to re-sgn Spence or get Zach Brown for ILB depth, and sign a vet rb and I think we will be fine.

Sean Spence. Was on Tenn last yr, on Steelers years before that. Good backup ILB.

He had a pretty MAJOR injury too. If one could bring him in and give the tires a kick and he could PASS a physical, then at a "back up role wage, HELLa YEA !!!!!

Brown would be a better Spence has nenver been the same since the 1st injury.

are you sure he got injured in Tenn too? HE had a pretty nice stat line there

35 solo tackles, 3 sacks, 3 passes deflected and 1 forced fumble in spot duty.

I'd take him to back up Shazier in a heartbeat for 3M

I was inferring his STEELERS injury. How much did he play in Tennessee ?? I'm not a caprologist so I don't know if 3m is back up money??? Agree we are thin at IMB and do need depth. ALSO we do need a Shazier back up plan.!!!

Please provide the link where revis says he'd play for vet minimum, this I gotta see.

And we did just that. Baltimore isnt leap-frogging us because of brandon carr, so please just take a deep breath

If Revis really wants to finish his career as a Steeler...why wouldn't he play for the vet minimum, when he knows he will still get the 6 million total from the guarantee contract the Jets gave him...
His only risk is that he would sign with us and there would be some fool out there willing to pay him more than 6 million, which is highly unlikely.

All I know..is I wish I had his agent lol

Here's what I don't get, Revis will be paid a minimum of 6 million whether he plays for someone this year or not.
Unless he's trying to prove that he has a few more years in him, why would he not just find a nice beach and watch the waves roll in?

Or maybe that's just me personally, thinking retirement sounds good.

Honestly some of the markets were just stupid. I was really wanting Poe to be a Steelers. He got 1 year 10 million. He's a niche player. Two downs mostly.
