Feel bad for Ben.

Who knows with them, anything is possible.

I wouldn't get rid of either of them. I would keep Sens for depth and bring someone to start opposite Haden.

Obviously you bring back Haden, but at some point age will catch up. Part of making an upgrade will be cutting ties with Burns. They shouldn't even enter this season with a possibility of him winning a starting job.

Until the defense gets fixed this stuff is just going to keep repeating itself. This defense has been less than average for far too long. As a long time Steeler fan I am not used to seeing these horrible defenses put on the field. The defense used to destroy the opposition and put points on the board to boot.

The way this organization seems to be going to ****, I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t offer Ben an extension or anything and goto Rudolph after next season. I’m actually counting on it.

Steelers need to draft this year’s Derwin James and pick up a better free agent inside linebacker. Of course they won’t though

Watt and Shazier would have been fun to see play together.

Watt is our best defensive player and it’s not close.

He was our only play maker. Interceptions and forced fumbles.

Then why did the Steelers win more games when he wasn't playing than when he was? If you look at the games he missed (he was only healthy for 12 games a year) the Steelers record was actually better without him.

I don’t know but he was the best player on defense, it’s not even debatable. The defense isn’t better with Vince or bostic at mlb, that’s for damn sure.

Not saying Shazier was overrated, but he was not the savior of the defense. We definitely miss his speed but still had a ton of issues with him out there. I think they need to draft people that play the position. No more tweeners like edmunds.

Like it ******* matters who they draft with that ******* moron in charge.

They could time-travel Joe Greene to his absolute prime and the idiot ******* coach would use him as a dime corner.

I was never a big fan of Shazier. His athleticism was excellent, but he didn't have the noodles upstairs. His tackling at times wasn't great either. I seen the injury coming to him. A number of times I noticed shazier getting up slow being groggy on mild contact hits. That is when I knew there was something not right with this guy

I feel bad for Ben as much as anyone else, but if we are being completely honest he is part of the reason we came to this point. All those red zone picks earlier in the season and the failure to just line up and pound it are on him. I was afraid when Haley was fired Ben would revert to play like when he had another "friend" named Arians as OC.....sure enough we saw glimpses of it all season.
Hahaha LMAO, I'm surprised it took page three for someone to try bash him.
We had a 23-7 lead vs the Chargers, and the defense and Tomlins brilliant idea to cover Allen with a LB allowed the Chargers to score 18 points in the 4th. Have the lead in Oakland, he leaves Ben in the bench while Dobbs sucks ***, suddenly he let's Ben in and we drive right down and score, but we allow 14 points in the 4th to Oakland, he's the only reason we won at Jax, and what he did vs that D in the road should've been applauded more, but instead after that game all anyone wanted to do was ***** about how bad he played early

Shades should apologize to the entire team for that fake punt.

They had the game at hand up to the point they pulled that ****.

No no no. Brees with four downs at home, virtual lock to score. We don’t have the defense from 2010 out there anymore.

Ben was great today, and boy he took a beating. He's had his ups and downs over the years, but it's been a pleasure to watch him play at a high level, like he did against the Saints.

Going to miss the guy when he's gone.

LMFAO that’s just funny right there, and accurate.

Except he didn’t do that most of the second half. You Tomlin apologists just love to play what if games in fantasy land. Unreal.

Yes it is debatable. He never played more than 12 games a season and when he was hurt they had a better record. So it sure as hell is debatable. He isn't even our best LB. That would be Watt. I watched him miss tackles and get eaten up by TEs too many times to think he was some great ILB. He was a good player but because of his injury fans are glossing over his actual contributions.

Brees didn't have a 4-down, all-in, touchdown-or-nothing philosophy for most of the second half, did he?

You might be the first person in the history of this board to refer to me as a "Tomlin apologist," btw.

That wasn’t addressed to you, now was it? So now Brees just turns it on and off when he chooses? All the more reason to make it 80 yards instead of 40.

Well you've been countering me in the other thread, and what that guy wrote is essentially the same thing I've been saying.

It's not about Brees turning it on or off, man. The point is he would have 4 downs to move the chains. Not 3 downs like he would half had earlier in the half...what's hard to understand about that?

Even if Ben has :12 seconds when they do score?

Again, all of this what if and fantasy world. Maybe the long field forces an INT. Maybe they score on a deep pass on play one and we get it back with 3+ minutes. We can play what if all day long. What if Boz misses the FG? What if the Saints score a TD on first possession of OT? All of the what if’s don’t make the decision to fake punt on 4th and 5 down by 4 on your 40 yard line any better.

So 4 downs makes it an obvious score as opposed to 3? Wtf ever. Stupid ******* decision and it shot us in the foot.

IF Dumbass thought that it was wisest to go for the 4th and 5 with the thought that the Saints would score anyway, even on a longer field, so they should go ahead and risk the short field in order to get the Saints to a quicker score (and by the way, if you think Tomlin is even REMOTELY capable of thinking THAT out, you're probably as dumb as he is,) he would have told the defense to let the Saints score on the very next play in order to preserve more time.

He is NOT a ******* tactician. He's an idiot with a badge.

Wow.

Um, no, not an "obvious score." But certainly you would have to agree that it's easier for a team to get a first down with four chances instead of three chances, right?

Because 4 > 3, right?
