My picks for the modern era

Bailey
Reed
Gonzalez
James
Fanaca

A nine-time Pro Bowl selection as well as a six-time first-team All Pro, Faneca started 16 games in 10 of his seasons and played in at least 15 games in 13 seasons. He was an All-Decade selection for the 2000s.

Making the HOF as a Guard is not easy. Perhaps the hardest position to make it besides kicker and punter.

NY writers will put Mawae over Faneca....always. It’s asinine I know, but it’s how it’s always worked. NY bias.

That is asinine. It’s s national vote though for the most part with a few at large voters. Every franchise had a beat writer voting...I think.

Fanaca was perhaps the best power blocking guard on the move I ever saw. It was his block in the super bowl that enabled Willie Parker to get outside and take it to the house.

Quite a few guys on the Finalist list I never thought of as Hall of Famers.

It’s not a national vote. Each voter is from the city of each franchise. There are two Hall of Fame voters and one Pro-Football Writers of America voter. Finally there are 15-16 al large voters which are media journalists or writers. Most of the At large voters are NY based either via networks or publications. Peter King for example is voter, a columnist for SI and a writer for MMQ.

NY bias permeates in all American sports.

Are you sure most of the at large voters are from New York? You have to be from New York to understand, many sports writers outside the try state area just don't like them. Jets fans are among the worst.

What time is the announcement?

Don;t see Alan making it this year, hope I'm wrong

How many of the below players made 9 pro bowls or more, and 6 time all pro or more?

I think Alan has a shot. There are no QB's on the list, and Alan has been on the ballot for 4 years.

Ed Reed to me is the only slam dunk. Champ Bailey ( 52 interceptions ) and Gonzalez 15,000 as a Tight End and 111 TD's are near slam dunks.

James with 15,000+ total yards and 140 touchdowns will get in someday, if not today.

Boselli will get in instead of Faneca IMO and I don;t think they put in 2 OL in one class.

Gonzalez is a lock , for you to think otherwise is ridiculous. Reed is a lock and I think Bailey and Bruce also get in.

Boselli only played for 7 years.

You can hear Ed's mediocre pitch for Faneca above, and all pitches for the candidates for that matter.

The best news? Since 1970 89.3% of the finalist eventually get in the hall of fame.

Boselli really only had six seasons, playing just three games in his seventh year. Made five Pro Bowls and All Pro four times. Although he didn't have postseason success, I would say he had a better career than Terrell Davis, who for some reason is in the Hall of Fame.

Yeah, but TD has 2 rings. And those rings are more on him than on Elway. He was an absolute horse for Denver’s rings.

Three great seasons, one good season, three bad seasons. I know he was a beast in the playoffs, but greatest over an extended period of time counts for something. Davis doesn't check all of the boxes for me.

As far as this year's class goes, I don't think Maewe is a Hall of Famer.

Mawae was a great player but no way he should be in before Faneca. Hopefully next year he can go in with Troy.

Don’t be surprised Troy gets in and Boselli does over Faneca. Boselli would be JAX franchise first HOF.

Boselli in my mind doesn’t have the numbers. Played less than 7 years. Only 91 games. 91 games. All pro three years. Pedestrian in comparison to Faneca.

Gale Sayers had a shorter career because of injuries, but he had numbers to get in. All pro for 5 straight years.
