he should get serious consideration just based on who his QB's were before Ben.

Faneca should've been in already, should've gone in before Mawae and Hutchinson, Faneca is arguably the best OG to play the game

He needs in because he is a STEELERS player, end discussion. NEXT

The Hall of Fame is the best of all time. I think guys who are productive on the field and part of the NFL story while they’re playing deserve to get in. Ward may not have been as prolific as some other wide receivers, but he was productive for a long time, has all-time great production in the playoffs, and was certainly a big part of the NFL story during his playing days.

When guys like Lofton, Reed, Monk etc are in there, Ward absolutely belongs in there.

I like Faneca don't get me wrong. Its just hard for me to picture him as more impactful then Ward on those teams and more irreplaceable. And Ward has two SB's not one. He was starting to cook in the second championship run when I believe he hurt his Hammy, or he would have had a bigger piece of that one too. I guess it just comes down to position and competition. Plus some of these guys just get accolades. Take for example, Pouncey. Does anyone really believe he is a better interior lineman than Ben is a QB in the grand scheme. Yet yea rafter year, if he completes around 16 games pro bowl or all pro. He will walk into the hall and I just think Pouncey is really good and likely no championships either.

if the NFL makes/ names rules after you, you should probably be in the Hall of fsme

Mel Blount was the other Steeler they changed the rules because of his play. That soft spoken nice guy manhandled wide receivers all game long. Hence the 5 yard contact rule or the Mel Blount rule.

I gotta be honest and no disrespect to Blount, but I never really understood that in the first place. What would the game even look like if you could just shove a guy to the ground as long as the ball wasn't in the air. I guess every DB would just look like a small linebacker and push everyone to the ground.

I was born in 78 so I missed that era, but that's why teams were so run heavy then, it was difficult to throw the ball.

passing yards and scores would be way lower.

Blount was exceptional because he was a force before and after the rule changed

Blount was a freak in the 70s. without a doubt the best corner of that era. He could play in todays nfl no prob. I think the same with Hines. he could have been very successful as a WR in the 70s.

My favorite hall of famers are the ones I see as multigenerational

It was Nunn who was mainly responsible for those 70's draft picks, not Noll.

Drafted guys from small schools and black colleges that no other NFL teams would consider... names like Mel Blount, Ernie Holmes, Donnie Shell, LC Greenwood, John Stallworth.

https://www.post-gazette.com/sports...teelers-scout-dies-at-89/stories/201405070182

well they didn't draft Shell,,,but Nunn is the reason they signed him

others may have considered Stallworth if the film hadn't gotten hung up in the Steelers' offices.

It was Nunn's job to find these guys and sell Noll and Rooney on them. He did his job very well.

Ward is going to face a hard battle to get in. He was more than just a wide receiver and didn't make many friends with his crushing blocks

Not to mention that there are voters with agendas and believe “enough” Steelers are in

This is the part that a lot of folks miss weather they are to young or forgetful to the fact. Blount wasn't just a Joe CB talking the walk because he could WALK THE WALK in ability and toughness as well. He was an elite athlete who had great body control and positioning. He could bring the WOOD and even after the rule change many receivers developed T-REX arms when Mel was around.

Put in Manning, Faneca and 3 wide receivers. Maybe then Ward will have a shot in next couple of years.
