fan rankings.... someone can't count

I have maintained for years that fan attendance in Pgh is greatly exaggerated. And imagine where we would be if we had hopeless seasons like the Browns? We'd be near the bottom, that is the truth of it all.

Decent amount of fans where upset with Goodell and the Vick signing.

I am sure that factored in.

But with what I mentioned and add merchandise sales, I am sure it would look like a very different list.
 
Local economics play a part of the story. Also hassle of game day experience for fans. Lots of people just stay home. A lot of people sell tickets to seconary sit's to make money that simply are not bought in the end. I know this. I've been to 4 road games and one home. No fans come from as far and wide in football or any other sport to see their team. I've never seen so many opposing teams jerseys in any event I've gone to than a Steelers road game.
 
There isn't the strong season ticket contingent that there was when Heinz Field opened. Each year, there are more and more fans selling their seats and only showing up a few times a year. I went from knowing just about everyone around me to seeing only about 2-4 of the same faces every week. It's kind of sad. Between that and apparently no one in Pittsburgh owning a jacket or gloves for when the weather dips below 60 degrees, it definitely isn't the same.

Old school people perhaps preferring to stay home. Perhaps not enough season ticket coming off those tickets for a discounted price.. as I am sure that would factor in as well......

I know my friend gets tickets and when he offers, I go to a decent amount of games... Slated for two already this year one here one in Florida.

Blame Goodell
 
They use attendance but don't take into account Heinz Field only can fit 67,000 and Fed Ex Field holds 80k
 
Just watch an away game and there's your answer
 
People subsidize the purchase of their season tickets by selling 2-4 games on Stub Hub and the like. You couldn't do this 25 years ago.

Steelers ranked 22nd in attendance, 15th in percent capacity. For reference, New England was 18th and 16th, respectively.

Steelers away fans and the ones that make the trip to Heinz Field are absolutely fantastic.
 
The fact that its 30% more expensive to get a hotel in Miami when the Steelers in town shows how great out fans are.
