Run the ball three times then kick a field goal making it an 11 point lead with less time on the clock.

Fn idiots. Brady is great but very lucky.

100% agreed. I was screaming this at the TV. Anybody who knows even a scintilla amount of football knows you DO NOT, under ANY circumstances, attempt to pass the ball there.

The play calling in the second half was just putrid. How can a head coach and OC not know what you should do in those situations?

They played not to lose in the 4th qtr instead of playing to win. They had it going on for most of the game, putting pressure on Brady while playing man coverage. Then with a big lead, they decided to sit back in zone and try not to give up the big play. Why do people keep trying to play zone against Brady? Their receivers at nothing great, just possession guys, but He beats it every time. We played that way the whole game and he beat us like a drum.

Atlanta wins the Darwin award for stupidity. All they had to do was run the ball 3 times, then kick a field goal to go up 11 points.

But they took a sack, knocking themselves out of field goal range, and threw an incomplete pass preserving more time on the clock for New England.

Come to think of it, New England was darn lucky Seattle didn't run Lynch, and threw it in the end zone for the interception, saving them from defeat.

Very good and very lucky is a tough combination to beat! And Yes, New England was also lucky they won super bowls by long field goals too. But they won them...

Who does their OC think he is, Todd Haley???

I'll supply the pink hats for those protesting bad coaching in Atlanta.

Not gonna protest, but can I request a pink hat with MTC embroidered in cheap diamond?

You know it.

Not only did they fail to run when they just needed a field goal to seal it, the pass play on the Matt Ryan strip sack was also questionable. I saw the formation and knew nothing good was happening on a pass play. It ended up being one of the worst-case scenarios.

Um Coach, I posted all of those points last night...

How would I know that? I don't read all treads here. But your anaylis is spot on!

you don't watch all the games either.

I hear what you are saying but to be fair, it'd be pretty hard to watch all the Cleveland games, start to finish...............lol

Salute the nation

After the Falcons had a 28-3 lead they ran the ball a grand total of FOUR times.

Morons. And they were running it very well

You don't have to read all the threads, just the bold ones. Helps to click the little circle to take you to the first unread post.

To write, you have to read, a lot!. I read a ton of articles weekly, and each and every new post in the Football Forum. It helps to keep you informed, and also helps you think of things that others have not. That is what makes writing interesting.

Mods, we can merge these threads.

That's Matt Ryan's fault, not play calling.

They weren't running the ball effectively in the 2nd half - one of the backs was out, hurt, right?

He's a veteran QB, MVP of the league. He should know not to take a 12 yard sack in that situation.

Squarely on Ryan's shoulders.

Paperclip, I respectfully disagree. That was moronic play calling. It doesn't matter if they lose a yard on three straight plays, it's still the smartest move. Hell, I'd kneel down, force them to use all their timeouts, kick the FG and hoist the Lombardi. There was NOTHING to be gained from throwing the ball. A sack (as we saw) was killer. An incomplete stops the clock, which is stupid. It was by far the dumbest in game coaching decision I've ever seen.

It was playcalling....we always put loses like this on coaching when its the Steelers. No need to change up when its the other team. Yall know good and well had this been the Steelers up 1,2,3 or 4 scores and lost, that Tomlin would have gotten 1001% of the blame, his SUV torched or vandalized and swastikas burned into his lawn with racially offensive graffiti tagged on his home.

Shanahan and Quinn lost this game.
