Ex-rat Bart Scott says comparing Polamalu to Ed Reed is disrespectful

Troy's career stands on it's own. He isn't someone who has ever sought recognition. But it found him because he is undoubtedly a HOF player. Everything you would want in a team mate and as fan I cannot imagine a fanbase that wouldn't have drooled if he was an available FA at his height.

except for the over sized head

When a raven fan argues Reed is better due to his INT total, just ask them if Joey Porter was better than Ray Lewis, then site Porters larger sack total. When they say that’s not a fair comparison because they played different positions, you then get to laugh in their face

back in the day, coach declared Troy a bust on draft day. Among the many wrong criticisms, was his assertion that Troy would get a bunch of concussions because his head was too big.

2003. You kids have been at this for a while. I was at the Trib message board then. There was this guy Crash. Same kinda deal. There was an argument about Antwan Randle El vs. The Pitt Kid Antonio Bryant. It rivaled the Dri Archer thread. Good times!!

I know who Crash is. An Idiot of the highest order.

He has mellowed a little but still goes off on the dumbest ******* things, we have a loco resident here as well.

I too remember crash from the trib board.

Maybe he has a different handle here. One guy named Crash and he has less than 20 posts. This dude was like several others. More important than the Steelers being successful is me being right. ****** hate that.

I seriously doubt Ed had 100 more tackles than Troy

I’d buy you a beer — point.

Same team that gave Ray Lewis credit for tackles when their offense was on field.

Ironic that most of the players that made that rivalry made their way from “hating” to “not liking” but definitely “respecting”.

Suggs admitted to it as perspective changed. Those were the greatest of games. And I bet those guys would give just about anything to be able to relive & play one more time.

Suggs—just an assnine statement

I think you meant Piranha faced ******. SteelerSask, I hear exactly what you are saying. I was just giving TROY some due, nothing intended towards your opinion.

Regardless of the designation, we'll both just have to agree his is a ******.

EDIT: Suggs is the fish face ****** !!!

Ed was a FS, Troy was a SS. Both of them had the ability to freelance in their offenses. Troy attacked the run, was a better tackler, and was the best pre-snap safety i've ever seen. Ed was a better pass defender and ball hawk. He always knew where the play was going and seemed to anticipate the point of reception before the ball was thrown. Troy used his god given speed to hang with any player and attack the football in the air.

Both are 2 very different players. Skill wise, it's all Troy. Film study and anticipation, Ed has the edge. Ed was really good at supporting the run as well, he hit hard, and he took fumbles to the house.

The biggest difference between the 2 of them? No Ratbird receiver ever knocked Troy out of a game...

(And Suggs is a horsefaced dickbag, but to not look past his long face and see how successful he was during his long career, you're missing out on a HOF caliber career. He came back from a torn achilles during the same season, and won a SB, that's a HOF story there.)

I dunno both had good instincts and could anticipate what the Os were going to do. Not sure I want to give Ed the film study edge either. Not really knowing how much both put into it. But I am willing to bet both did really well in that area.

Other than that I am on the same page as you.
