Facts! And I came around on it this year. Never draft a LS. TMC and Del are 100% right. Don't invest in a position you can fill in FA.
I'd agree if we didn't have a starting NT, possibly use a mid round pick on one. This is not the 90s anymore. Hampton would be on the field for 20-30 snaps a game in this NFL. The run doesn't matter as much as the pass anymore. So if we need a backup NT, I'm not investing in anything above a 6th rd pick, and you can probably find some earth movers in UDFA.
Kicker I can see drafting if it is a need, and the kid was a stud in college. Not a first like the Raiders, but mid to late, you can invest. Punters, there is no reason to ever draft one. Fullbacks as well.
It's more of a money strategy than filling positions of need. We have great talent at WR, RB, OL, QB, CB, DL, and OLB. You have to pay those guys.
I hate to say it but one benefit from Shazier's injury, is it will free up $8M next year for another player. Perhaps Haden's contract is a wash since he goes up to $11M next year?
