The #Steelers are expected to hire #NCState TEs/FBs coach and ST coordinator Eddie Faulkner as their new RBs coach, sources say. A hire from an unexpected place to work with James Conner and others.

Art Rooney II on James Saxon: "Sometimes it’s time for a change. Coach Sax did a good job over the last few years, but his contract was up and Coach Tomlin felt like it was time to make a change there."

Weird hire. Desperate move imo. Seems like a jaylen Samuels hire.

Every time you guys referr to as chewy, I laugh but also think of Chubacca and then think, """"" I wander if Chubacca could coach or play""""""""

What makes it a desperate move?

I just don’t see the reasoning behind hiring this guy besides him once coaching our backup RB. Has he helped produce great TEs or RBs at NC st?

He has experience coaching RBs, OC, TEs, FBs, and ST and seems to be a well respected and liked coach from the NC St. fans. A running back coach is a good opportunity to try to locate an up and comer.

Give me a RB coach who is great at helping to produce good RBs.. why do we need a RB coach who knows about STs? Isn’t that Danny Smith’s job?

We have regressed so far this offseason with the moves being made or the lack of moves being made.

He’s coached RBs and TEs for awhile. At Northern Illinois and Wisconsin before going to NC State.

There’s change every offseason. Yeah losing Munch is tough, but Sarret has been his understudy for several years. He’s ready, and the players have said the same about him. Did you know anything about Saxson before he joined the staff?

Any coach adds value to a team if the coach "teaches" players the game, rules, position play etc.
Players after all are athletes gifted with way above average physical capability but sometimes not the sharpest tool in the shed. Good coaches bring out the best in the athletes and put them in the best possible position to succeed.
Supposed to anyway.
Give the new coaches a chance I say, the Steelers have had their share of complacent underachievers IMHO.

Clearing out his desk, packing his bags and getting out of town hopefully.

Coaching decisions are done for the year, we are stuck with the suck.

Saxson coached good quality RBs for 11 years in the NFL before coming to Pittsburgh. This guys experience doesn’t even come close to what Saxson had when we hired him.

How do you know Faulkner isn't a good coach? You've probably never heard of the guy or any other running back coach. NC State fans thought highly of him and said the players loved the guy. With how NFL offenses are going, it isn't a bad idea to bring in some new ideas from a college coach either.

why are we hiring guys with Zero coaching experience at top level?

looks like its 1 last shot u got Danny boy or fast Eddie replaces him.
