Dwight Freeney anyone?

I would bring him in and take a LOOKsie, can't hurt anything. Have your talent evaluators there and make a very tight decision. I don't think he has much left, but if our scheme / placement of him works, then YES.

Salute the nation

I don't understand the people saying pass... He's got nothing left in the tank. Hello people.... He'd EASILY be the team leader in sacks.

It's not like we've been lighting up the pass rush in the last few years. An affordable vet with that pedigree would only help. Imagine that guy and Harrison showing the way in training camp as far as not only technique but what kind of work ethic it takes to be an elite pass rusher - I don't see the downside.

Jarvis is better against the run pass.. He hasnt generated the sacks we need but he made two huge plays last year. Big pick against the Colts after a turnover in our territory. Who knows how that game goes if they capitalize early on that. And we don't play the Broncos with out his strip sack vs the Bengals.

yeap, we already have James Harrison as a situational pass rusher vet. Having him will shorten the minutes available for the young guys (Feeney and or Chickillo)

A wise old man told me - "let them (the new guys) make the team first"...

We already have Harrison using a lb roster spot that will cause them to have to try and hide either Feeney, Chickillo, or Matakevich on the practice squad. Do we want to risk losing two of those three in order to get DF?

Chickillo already went through waivers once and no one wanted him last year.

I'm pretty sure Feeney and Matakevich will make it through waivers as well. Feeney is WAY too undersized to make an active roster right now. And players like Matakevich is pretty much grow on trees. He might fill up a college stat sheet, but that doesn't mean much in the pros if those tackles are after successful offensive plays.

Just is what it is.

I'm not sure Freeney fits here right now. Still have Moats and Harrison as our veterans. I would think Freeney would be better off in someplace like Atlanta or New York Giants that like to rotate defensive lineman A LOT. Use him as a pass rush specialist on turf with his hand on the ground. Maybe New Orleans too. Even New England might be able to find a spot for him since they got rid of Chandler Jones. Can use him the same way.

Freeney signed a 970k contract with 1 million in incentives last year and had 8 sacks in 11 games and 255 snaps. That's a sack every 32 snaps. Debo had 1 sack every 122 snaps in comparison. I am not saying give this guy a huge long contract but if he can come in and on passing downs get to the QB I say what do we have to lose? I would cut JJ in a heartbeat if Freeney and Chickillo (who looks way better in run stopping and holding the edge) can split time and come in on different packages.

Chickillo looks way better stopping the run and setting the edge?? Ok now Jarvis hasn't lived up to his 1st round status but seriously chick doesn't look better against the run. And against who? Jarvis was better then solid against the run and setting the edge.

If he can be signed That cheap then of course bring him for competition, we don't know who can get hurt in TC but better have the backup already here

Rumor last year was they promoted Chickillo back to the 53 from the ps because another team was about to sign him.

I am so sick of hearing that ****!

If the Pens stayed the same we wouldn't be winning - BE BOLD! Take some ******* chances! grab what you can

You _DO_ realize, we are talking about the Rooneys and Steelers here. Bold ain't their style.

I would like to see some sort of pass rusher brought into camp. IF not Freeney how about O'brien Scofield??

Those are 8 sacks Jarvis never had.

Juss sayin

Totally my point. Guy would lead the team in sacks with those 8. It absolutely couldn't hurt and makes zero sense why they wouldn't

He should hang up his jersey and just sell ribs in the parking lot at tailgate parties. He is done.

Maybe you missed the EIGHT SACKS from a year ago. Our team leader had 7. All the Steelers should hang it up and sell ribs too?

I'm sure that we couldn't have benefited. You guys are right. We should keep matching 95 out there to flail about every Sunday. Why does it matter how he got them? He got them.

I'd kick the tires if they believe he has anything left. Nothing wrong with adding a part-time pass rushing specialist.

I don't care if he only comes in on 3rd and 10 or more. He'd still likely lead the team in sacks.

as a rotating 15% snaps in a 4-3 teamed up with heyward tuitt matthews timmons shazier feeney he could offer something, give him a try out see if he can easily unseat the big De Geathers who is coming off a injury.
