This isn’t a confirmed report, but couple talking heads were talking with Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns chief beat writer, about the Kareem Hunt signing.

Discussion was about what is the pecking order now that Chubb, Hunt and Duke are together. Johnson has a pretty big cap number for the second back up and could be released. He’s played well when I’ve watched him, but got replaced by Chubb as the starter. If he’s released I’d would think he would be a fabulous addition to replace Ridley. Hunt’s contract and past indiscretions before kicking the girl however, I think keeps his leash short. One more slip up he’s done.

Good hands, good pass catching RB. Yeah I would take him,

Thing is would they can him with Hunt not being immediately available? not so sure

So, he can play behind Conner and Samuels? Sure, I'd do that.

No way, draft a RB #1 and have him for 5 cheap years

They'd only free up 800k by cutting him before June 1st. I don't see them doing that, but I suppose they'd trade him perhaps.

We would never get the chance to get him, he would be snapped up before our turn on waivers

If he is cut before 3/17 he would be a street free agent. Also wouldn’t count on the comp formula. Same as Lamar Houston with KC.

I've always liked him, and would absolutely take him.

No, i hear about the Browns more than i wish i had to. This guy stays hurt, and can't even practice most of the time. If you get him don't plan on letting him touch the ball more than 5 times a game.

If he was had for near the same $$money$$ as Ridley, then he'll yes.

Salute the nation

???? Duke Johnson has never missed a game. Sure he’s only started maybe less than a dozen, but that was because he was backup to Crowell and now Chubb.

With Conner being the feature back, JaySam and a Duke Johnson can rotate as the backup or extra back formations. It’s just a suggestion, as Hunt isn’t a sure thing.

They only signed Hunt for 1 year and he could be suspended for as many as 8 games to start the year. Who would be Browns back-up during that time?

I like Duke. I'd take him in a second if the price was right. .

slashsteel;59512 Good hands, good pass catching RB.

I would not. We have pro bowl player in Conner, and a top pass catcher who ripped up the super bowl champions in Samuels during one of his starting games. Actually Conner catches the ball well too.

Both guys are young and very cheap. Unless he signs for NFL min ( or there is an injury ) , the Steelers aren't going to bring him in.

The $$$ should be spent at weak areas on the team, which running back is not, and history shows how easy it is to find a competent replacement in the draft.

You let Ridley go a RB is needed. So then you get one in the draft or free agency. Conner has gotten injured a little too much. You have to keep that in mind in the decision making process.

Slash, Coach has shown he has no decision making process.....Nor does he understand free agency.

I would rathee have Bell back. I think they transition him and let him see what the market is for him. It may not be out of our price range

3rd sting RB is not a need. It’s way down the list and you know it. This is an Ike thread. Don’t let it lower your IQ

Humor us. Where does 3rd string running back rate among our needs? Johnson isn’t going to be obtained for nfl minimum.

A no reply means you know I’m about to eat your lunch...again.

I predict a no reply as even someone as dumb as you knows it’s well behind ILB, Olb, DL and OL depth and S.

Your prediction is wrong, as usual, and clearly impotent.

It’s a FA need. Veteran need at the position. They always keep a vet in the position room.

ILB, CB, WR, OLB, and RB are all needs which will be addressed in the draft and/FA moron. Only you moron would think they need Safety help, when they already have 5 on the roster, not counting Burnet and Berhe. They will have cap space to make some decent attempts at some. Johnson’s numbers to date will only afford him a modest 4 year contract, if available.

Coach just bury your head and wait for your prom.

Even if it is down the list it is a need. Who would spell Jaysam if Conner is down again? Ignoring depth or the lack of it can come back and bite you in the ***. I'f your IQ was higher perhaps you would grasp that.

Ignorance on display. I’ll wager you the Steelers do not draft a running back in the first three rounds or sign one in free agency for more than 3 million a year. And you’ll run from that bet!

3rd string RB is not a need as I said. Perhaps your weekend gimp mask is on to tight? Keep posting Ike, you’re hilarious.

So you admit 3rd string running back is down the list. Good. That is a start.

You can say ignoring depth at any non special teams positions can cost you if you lose the 1st and 2nd string player. I’d argue kicker is more of a need than 3rd sting RB. All starters, and most back ups on offense and defense are more important than the 3rd string back. Dude, that is at least 40 other players!

The running back position has become devalued. The Steelers typically bring in rookie free agents or very cheap non starting types to fill this role. Check the history. You’ll see.
