I grew up in Az so almost everything I ate growing up had a hoof. But man the low country South Carolina cooking is amazing. fresh shrimp, grits, etc. I could see myself retiring in that area just because of the food
Shrimps are good. Grits, not my favorite but you do you. Just don't tell me you like that mustardy pork **** they call BBQ. There is only one true pork BBQ - Eastern NC.

thats the thing. I dont like grits. eat them in MD or anywhere else an they dont taste good. but the way they make them in South Carolina, they taste great. i know it sounds stupid.
Down here in the south, we use real corn when we make grits. Yanks like them in MD probably use that instant **** out of a box.
The flavor of homemade grits is fine by me, its the texture that I don't like.
I have to do butter and sugar substitute for my grits. I don't like them plain. Maybe even add cinnamon.

well we have fresh shrimp, crawfish, grits, and better bar-b-que
I do like NC pork bbq and memphis and st louis ribs....but the memphis rib place that opened up here in Cypress, Tx ******* sucks
but of course Texas brisket or ribs are superior to all other forms of bbq.
This area has some of the best food options. From Tex-Mex, Cajun/Creole and Texas BBQ....no wonder I'm overweight
It didn't help when I married a cajun girl who loves to make her own gumbo and jambalaya.

it always smells better when you leave also......
can't argue, cowboy fans suck.....and summer is awfully hot, but that is what AC was invented for. We also have very mild winters and can grill or golf year round

I shower daily so that was a fresh smell leaving. What you notice after I leave is the local cow patty smell returning.

Everyone with a brain knows the best Pork BBQ is from Down East NC. Beef BBQ is a different story. That said, I have had darn good beef BBQ in Texas. I won't say I havent.
LOL Coolie. you are all right by me. I have had many good times down in Texas. Only been to the DFW area. One thing I noticed was the huge growth from the mid 90's to the early 2000's. Cripes there are ton of people there. If I had one real gripe about the Dallas area (aside from the cowboy fans of course) is DFW Airport. Not sure which i dislike more DFW or ATL. That and their endless prattling about their food being the only food in the world.

I said I liked NC pork bbq....while folks here might smoke a pork butt, that is usually as far as we go with pork.
The only thing Dallas has going for it is that it is in Texas. Well and my older son was born in Arlington. Much like the Houston metropolitan area, Dallas/Fort Worth has grown a hell of a lot...as has San Antonio. Austin is probably the prettiest of the big cities here, but the people might as well be californians. ******* liberal loonies. Been through both DFW and ATL and they both suck....IAH in Houston is a breeze compared to them..
Austin is awesome. Got my cowboy boots there! Also their BBQ in a wood fire oven cooking all day, kicks the **** out of just about any form of brisket I have ever had.

I did enjoy partying on 6th street there when I was in college....but they have gone off the deep end the last decade
how else do you cook brisket other than smoking it with hickory or pecan smoke all day?
