Drug Commercials

The car accident guys won't take on a pharmaceutical product liability case. That line of work has maybe 20 years left, then gone - the self-driving cars and automatic braking for traffic signals, traffic hazards and emergency vehicles means no clients.

And prediction - when that line of work is gone, car insurance rates will not go down.
 
I always enjoy the long list of possible side effects they quickly run through.

You may experience nausea,vomiting, heart failure, convulsions, seizures,suicidal thoughts,stroke,blood clots, voices in your head, tumors,loss of bowels and blindness............but your migraine may be gone or something along that line...lol

it's sad that now you see commercials for ED meds and constipation meds aimed at young people. They put kids on drugs at an early age and the fact that it will mess them up is a feature not a bug. You get to sell them 10 drugs instead of 1.

It's also this notion that nothing bad should ever happen. You should never ever feel sad, take a pill. You feel tired late afternoon. Don't accept that as something completely normal, take a pill. Your knee hurts like a 2 out of 10, better get take a drug every day for the rest of your life. Your 7 year old has trouble sitting still in a classroom for hours at a time and instead wants to act like a kid? Better get some pills to zombie them out. Grades not good enough? Don't face fact that little Jimmy may be dumb, put him on a drug to focus.

Yep, the side effects are worse than the condition the medication is designed to treat. It’s ridiculous.
 
speaking of side effects, remember when they came out with Olestra (i think), that they sprayed on chips and other junk foods? It was supposed to make the bad stuff just go right through you without being digested. The commercials sounded like a drug commercial. It ended up giving people explosive diarrhea and went away pretty quickly.
 
Kinda like a Teflon coating.

I remember the fast talking guy that used to do that fast talk legal disclaimer at the end of commercials in the 70's. They asked him how he learned to talk so fast. He said he had 9 sisters.
 
I'm probably in a unique position where I won't condemn the entire pharmaceutical industry. There are drugs out there like the calcitonin gene-related peptide product (CGRP's)
that are game changers for those suffering from hemiplegic migraines that can cause people to be debilitated for weeks at a time.

Do we over prescribe? Absolutely, but medicine is weighing the benefits against the side effects. It should come down to a question of balance.

I see where Snow White, the Dwarfs, and Disney are pushing allergy drugs on kids now. Unfuckingbelievable.
