Jaylon Ferguson, Edge

If the Steelers think none of the available corners or inside linebackers are worth the pick, they might go OLB/Edge. As such I'm beginning to look at the top edge prospects who might be on the board at pick #20.

The good news is, this is a very good OLB/Edge class. Durpee has been a mild disappointment as a first-round pick. Do the Steelers really want to give him a 2nd contract worth 7-10 million a year? I'd pass on that. The Vince Williams extension was bad enough!

The Bulldogs kept Ferguson in Louisiana despite his all-state senior season, and the move paid off as he became the FBS record-holder with 45 career sacks. He started five times as a true freshman, receiving honorable mention All-Conference USA honors by leading the team with 15 tackles for loss and tying for the lead with six sacks. Ferguson continued tearing up C-USA backfields as a sophomore, starting all 14 games and compiling 49 stops, 16 for loss, and tying for third nationally with 14.5 sacks. He earned first-team all-conference honors in 2017, when he started 11 of 12 games played (39 tackles, 9.5 for loss, seven sacks). Ferguson ended his career with an Associated Press third-team All-American senior campaign, leading the nation with 17.5 sacks (2.5 in the Hawai'i Bowl) and ranked in the top five with 26 tackles for loss. He finished the year with 64 stops, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles in 13 games for the Bulldogs. - From NFL.com

Hmmm, FBS record holder in sacks. As long as he doesn't work out like Jarvis Jones, I could get on board with this pick in round one or two. Something tells me Jaylon Ferguson's draft stock is on the rise. Are there any Louisiana Tech fans here who can tell us more about this guy?

His red flag? His freshman year he got into a fight in McDonald's. He paid a $189 fine and had battery charge. Now he is not allowed to attend the combine due to a new NFL rule.

I'm not a draft guru but I've seen his name pop up in some discussions. Might be someone to keep an eye on. We do have bigger needs but maybe he falls a little or in AB's trade package we get the right pick to acquire someone of this nature.

Salute the nation

No idiot....you just reiterated my statement....it’s not a new rule.....while you stated it was.

I could see him as our pick if none of the top ILB's or CB's are there. Even if AB is gone, I still can't see us taking a WR in round 1. There just aren't any that are that far and above the others. ILB and CB are our 2 biggest needs with OLB/Edge probably tied for 3rd with WR.

I gave you the date. Not the other way around.

Please post something of your own if that’s football related if possible.

You remain a cancerous old man hiding behind dark shades.

Let’s see what we can get for Brown. The guy is acting like he’s a free agent. He’s not.

The rule isn’t new genius, it was implemented several years ago.

Okay, I checked. The rule was created in 2016. As usual, there is limited football content from you.

Follow the thread genius. You stated it was a new rule. You were informed you were wrong, it wasn’t new and implemented by the league previously. You then give the date it was implemented which was not “new”, but as stated several years before.

I have posted something of my own that’s football related. Primarily, that you say more BS than anyone else on this board. Have nothing but anecdotal evidence to support your musings which are probably plagiarized. Unlike you I don’t pretend to know more than the professionals. I just have an informed opinion. You are no different than the Florio’s and Rappaport’s, except are paid much less. You throw BS up on on the wall and sees what sticks. All for your narcissistic self gratification.

“Cancerous old man behind dark shades”.......hahahahaha. Very original.

If his character is otherwise good I wouldn't be scared off by a fight with another dude. However, I dont think they can take any red flag guys considering things. Also, as much as I'd like to replace Dupree they may have to just pay him the option this year and accept serviceable. They are certainly looking at needs at Corner and WR (should Brown be traded) and I would put MLB ahead of an OLB.

Would be nice if hey dip into FA for a sure thing starter. Not the usual bridge gap type of FA.

I agree and they almost have to fill a hole in FA, but it won't be a big splash guy cause it never is. That however, does not preclude them getting a very good player. Apparently the wr. Crop is pretty thin, but they are looking for a two not a one. Thing is the guy they drafted last year Wahington doesn't look like a slot in any way. And there is no way you can ask him to try to take the heat off of Juju as a bonafide two. He certainly did not look that part last year. They almost need two receivers. I think at best they will fill a spot at corner and hope Haden can still play at a high level. I really dont think what they need at MLB and receiver can be found in FA.
