Just read that in addition to possibly trading comp picks, the NFL may start having the first round of the draft with 1 pick per day so they can add TV revenue. The 1st round would take 32 days throughout the month of April with the later rounds held after. WTF? I hate it now when they take the entire time to make their picks. Can you imagine one day per pick? I am tired of the greedy NFL. Goddell is going to bury the NFL before he is done.

That is just a half-baked idea thrown out by Bob Labriola of Steelers.com. It's not under consideration by the NFL.

I hope that's all it is but his article didn't sound like it and it would make the NFL a ton of money until fans decided to say enough is enough.

Who would be watching an entire day for a single pick? You'd have to be a real addict with nothing to do. Stupid idea, even from a revenue standpoint.

Logistically, how do you televise that? A half-hour show every night? I'm not sure as many people would tune in, especially after the first 5 or so picks. Rather they would be content just finding out who was taken after the fact. But I guess selling 640 minutes of advertising spread over a month might be more lucrative than seedling 90 minutes in one night.

I think it might significantly increase the number of trades.

You'd think it would be a great idea, but not many people would care about teams, other than their own, after 3-5 picks. It's also very expensive for the NFL to drag draft eligible players out for a month. I mean, Rogers and Manziel had to wait a few hours when they fell. Now players would have to wait weeks.

I personally think it would improve the draft if they moved it to a new stadium each year. It would be fun for the fanbases and add to the draft experience.

that would be boring and stupid. The big part of the emotion of the draft is that clock ticking down and all the decisions that have to be done in the short span

No, I think they'd do away with congregating for the draft in favor of televising it each day. Wouldn't they pretty much have to?

I don't think an outdoor stadium would be feasible for holding the draft.

Terrible idea. Probably the stupidest idea I've heard all month

With how the Steelers rush to the podium, that would be a really short show.

I get that it is just an idea, but it's a dumb one. That would kill the draft for me and I'd be done investing time on it.

Even though interest in the NFL draft seems to be endless, this proposal would certainly put an end to it.

An information now digital generation would have no patience for this format. Set phone alert, never watch it.

I read the WHOLE article. It was originally presented as sarcasm. Although, for some reason, Laboria thinks it might actually happen.

"I first suggested the following as a joke, and it ended up drawing more groans than laughs, but I still don’t believe it’s impossible:
Starting on April 1, the NFL could start to stage the first round of the draft, with one team making one pick each day. It could be turned into a daily, 32-part one-hour show, with the bulk of the time being filled by features, predictions, discussion, and analysis. Imagine the television revenue."

Know what really sucks about this stupid idea?

Giraffe fighter (old time SN members know what I mean) would be exhausted after day one and would never make it past the first day.

For me, hearing avbout the "che*triots" for 32 days, would put me in a phsyic ward. The draft bad enough for what it is right now, on how much cheaters they cover. Even when the STEELERS win the SB, we'd still hear more of the cheaters than the STEELERS.!!!!!

I would rather increase the rounds, and then increase the 53 roster limit (eliminate add on the PS)

then increase the players that can get a game day hat by 5..............
